It’s Wimbledon fortnight so, of course, it’s raining, but that has not stopped us celebrating Independence Day, Armed Forces Day and the Summer Solstice!
Our Independence Day party!
We celebrated 4th July Independence day with hot dogs and fries, and pancakes & syrup American style prepared by our fabulous kitchen team. We then had an afternoon of fun playing basketball and doing an American trivia quiz, whilst enjoying doughnuts.
Other news and events
We celebrated Armed Forces Day with some amazing stories and lots of reminiscence with the help of some items from The Royal Mint Museum.
Hereford Growing Point have been helping our Gardening Clubbers. We have re-potted our Sweet Peas and Sunflowers and also planted some Radish and Baby Gem Lettuce seeds. Everyone got stuck in and had a great time. Just need to keep an eye out for those pesky slugs now!
The weather hasn’t been very summery but we did have a Summer Solstice Picnic in the garden. You can check out our FB reel here. https://www.facebook.com/reel/973514877594920
Creative Minds are helping residents with a big summer art project. They have been making beautiful flowers using paints, ink and water. Photos of the flowers will be shrunk down to form part of a piece of art that will be revealed later when completed. Residents have also been working on the artwork for our 2025 Calendar!
Coming up….
During July we are taking the residents on a journey with our Armchair Travel. We will be visiting different countries where we will be sampling their cuisine and exploring their culture. We have some authentic Indian dancers to entertain us as we travel through India week. Destinations also include Spain, France and Italy.
We are enjoying the Wimbledon fortnight with balloon tennis, Pimms and of course strawberries with cream.
During August we are having a beach theme, with a visit to the seaside. So plenty of fun games, swing-ball, paddling pool, sand castles, ice-cream, fish and chips, etc.. and an afternoon at our very own Newstead pub.
