"The whole team at Astley Hall are just fantastic. The level of care shown to my father is just more than we could ever wish for. Everyone is so warm and welcoming to us and keep us involved in all the activities. The activities provided for the residents are also amazing and I can see that all the residents really enjoy them."

"We chose the Lawns as a nursing home having visited without notice and met management and nursing staff, getting a good feeling. Lawns were wonderful in making Dad's discharge from hospital at short notice trouble free, causing him as little stress as possible. Dad arrived at Lawns underweight and frail, with little interest in his surroundings and in engaging with others. He settled in quickly, gained weight and was gently integrated into life at Lawns. He needed nudging to join into activities, which with the sympathetic way his carers and activity staff acted began to happen, they got his sense of humour and he increasingly became his old self. We continued to visit Dad at Lawns without notice and consistently found him being looked after with compassion and genuine interest by the same cohort of carers month in and month out. Lawns End of Life care for Dad was faultless. Thank you."

"For Mothering Sunday, West Eaton invited families of residents to a Mother's Day lunch.
Three generations in our family enjoyed a delicious meal with superb hospitality, thoughtful table gifts and pretty table decorations. No effort on the part of the staff at the home was spared. All were and are so friendly, obliging and courteous and made our day very special and memorable. A big thank you to everyone.
Looking forward to this week we know that there will be plenty of fun activities for all residents and that every day will be individually enjoyable."

A lovely home where the staff bring energy to the lives of the residents and go above and beyond to make their lives enjoyable. Lots of activities and special occasions are celebrated by the whole team. Residents comment that they enjoy living there."

"A wonderful place to work/ volunteer. I was welcomed with open arms. I started at the end of the summer and usually go in twice a week. The residents are always clean and dignified. The staff are attentive and truly caring. The managers/ admin staff are all fantastic and supportive of us and the residents. It's a lovely atmosphere. One of a kind care home that truly deserves positive recognition. All staff work in an inclusive, person-centred way which helps the residents to remain independent as possible for as long as possible and to keep up positive mental well-being."

“Mel was great in helping us move mum and as soon as we arrived I just knew things would be good and they were. The staff are so caring and get to know each resident so well knowing their likes and dislikes and ways to support them emotionally. Mum had limited mobility but was still included in everything they did. There are so many activities going on and Kirsty always cheered everyone up. The personal care was always provided as and when it should be. The nurses were always there when we wanted to discuss anything. Everyone was so kind the cleaners the handy man the reception absolutely everyone. ”

Whilst we offer the usual range of activities, including arts and crafts, music sessions, exercise classes, gardening, and social events, we also encourage a wide range of volunteers, which enables us to broaden what we can do.  We feel it is important to maintain links into the community, and so try to get out and about as much as possible too.  Our Lifestyle and Wellbeing programme is designed to stimulate residents physically, mentally, and socially, ensuring they remain active and engaged.

How is wellbeing supported beyond physical care?

Wellbeing is supported through a holistic approach that includes social activities, mental stimulation, and opportunities for personal growth. Care homes also focus on creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel safe, valued, and connected.

Heritage care homes often have communal spaces, group activities, and events designed to encourage socialisation. Residents are encouraged to participate in activities that interest them and connect with fellow residents and the wider community, fostering a strong sense of community.
