"Activities are tailored to all tastes so all residents feel valued. Food is very high standard and we often go in to have lunch with mother. I feel very lucky that mother lives in such a lovely home.."

"My mother moved to West Eaton in August 2025. It has been a joy to have her cared for professionally with courtesy, love and as one of the family. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and the evident ethos at the home is to make the lives of the residents as enjoyable, positive, fun, stimulating and interesting as possible. Everyone is catered for individually and personally. The admission process was easy and straightforward with the necessary support along the way. Everyone from the kitchen up to management works as a team, and as soon as one enters West Eaton, visitors feel genuinely welcome and included. My mother particularly enjoys the beautiful garden and is taken out frequently."

"Our family were always welcomed at the home and my father in particular became part of the Newstead family. He visited every day and was encouraged to join in with the activities with Mum and then as an individual when Mum was no longer able to join in (but would sit and watch). In fact he still goes to the home several times a week to join in his favourite activities and is always welcomed as an old friend."

"My father has been at West Eaton for 14 months now. The staff are amazing. Nothing is ever too much to ask. They look after all my fathers needs, including encouraging and supporting him in the pursuit of his hobbies and interests. This is a wonderful facility. We have been encouraged and supported in making my father's room his personal space. He has enjoyed and benefited from the activities and goes out on trips with staff. I can not thank the team at West Eaton enough for all their hard work and devotion.."

"I can honestly say that my husband has been very happy since arriving at Newstead House. He is happy and settled and enjoys the regular schedule of activities that are available e.g. gardening, dominoes and bingo. He particularly enjoys the days when dogs and other animals visit the home. There is always something going on for the residents to enjoy and the staff are wonderful.."

“Abberton Manor is a spacious, peaceful nursing home set in beautiful surroundings. Dad has a lovely room which is always clean and tidy. Staff are aware of his medical needs and keep us well informed. Meals are a highlight of the day and I can personally recommend the chocolate and pear tart! Staff are extremely friendly and take time to tell me what Dad has been doing. This week he had the opportunity to take part in various activities including exercises, fudge tasting, bingo, chess, a picnic, weekly visit from local school children and dog cuddling! An outstanding home with exceptional staff.”

What activities are available to keep residents engaged?

Whilst we offer the usual range of activities, including arts and crafts, music sessions, exercise classes, gardening, and social events, we also encourage a wide range of volunteers, which enables us to broaden what we can do.  We feel it is important to maintain links into the community, and so try to get out and about as much as possible too.  Our Lifestyle and Wellbeing programme is designed to stimulate residents physically, mentally, and socially, ensuring they remain active and engaged.

How is wellbeing supported beyond physical care?

Wellbeing is supported through a holistic approach that includes social activities, mental stimulation, and opportunities for personal growth. Care homes also focus on creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel safe, valued, and connected.

How are individual needs and preferences accommodated?

At Heritage, personalised care plans are developed for each resident, taking into account their individual preferences, hobbies, and interests. This ensures that each person’s unique needs are met, whether through specific activities, dietary preferences, or social engagement opportunities.

What measures are in place to foster social interaction?

Heritage care homes often have communal spaces, group activities, and events designed to encourage socialisation. Residents are encouraged to participate in activities that interest them and connect with fellow residents and the wider community, fostering a strong sense of community.
