Maytime fun at Newstead

For Easter, we made our own hot cross buns and residents made chocolate Easter nests as a thank you to all our staffing team. There was lots of chocolate and we had a big Easter egg hunt. We remembered the true meaning of Easter at our lovely Easter service and took part in the Incredible Eggs programme. We hatched some gorgeous ducklings that we named Fury, Flower, Freddie and Fluffy!

We have had spectacular day commemorating VE day. Our ladies made beautiful fascinators to wear on the day. Residents baked and decorated all the cakes and food for the garden party. Thank you to our lovely Emily for serenading residents while they had fish and chips for lunch. Then, we were wowed by the Gadzukes Ukulele Players.

Our Gardening Clubbers have been making the most of the sunshine getting stuck into spring planting. Everyone has been outside as much as possible in the warm weather, enjoying the first lollies of the season! And we have had a couple of ever popular pub afternoons; the beer, gin and tonics, martinis and wine were flowing. Plus a few pork pies and crisps and a little karaoke too!

Our amazing Maintenance Man has transformed a courtyard area into a spectacular private seating area for our Residents. Thank you. Residents used their skills of baking to make our outstanding Nurses and Care team cheesecake, as a thanks for all their hard work and  also to  show their appreciation. Plus our manager Ali celebrated her birthday.

Thank you to Blue Line Taxis and the Newstead team and families for their support in making daytrips possible. A visit to St Michaels Hospice is always high on the wish list.

Coming up we have musical entertainment with Ian James on 19th June and Musicare on 26th June.
