Thank you to our senior nurse JJ
Our senior nurse Janet Wilson, or JJ as she is known to her Newstead family, is retiring. JJ began working at Newstead in 1998 and has dedicated most of her working life to the care of our residents and their families.
In 2018, she won at the Great British Care Awards for Palliative / End of Life Care. Caring and supporting someone at the end of their life requires a very special and professional person and JJ demonstrates just that, not only to each individual but to their families too. She is a finalist at this year’s Great British Care Awards for care home nurse of the year.
Alison Ough, our home manager says “JJ has been a mainstay at Newstead for over 30 years and was the lynch pin in achieving the Gold Standard Framework accreditation – the highest level of recognition for end of life care. She is like everyone’s Mum and has dedicated her life to Newstead. It is a privilege to work alongside JJ and she is an inspiration.”

We hosted a Coffee Afternoon for Macmillan Cancer Support and raised OVER £200!!
There were some incredible cakes all handmade and we had a cake quiz. We bought some Colin the Caterpillar cakes for our prizes. Thank you to everyone who donated and came along.
We are lucky enough to be a part of Dunelm Hereford | Community Support Christmas boxes! Our gift tags hung on the Christmas tree at Dunelm, have flown off already! Thank you to everyone who has got a tag and is buying a Christmas present for our wonderful residents. We are so touched by everyone’s generosity and it makes Christmas super special at Newstead.
