We are very proud of all our team and residents and celebrate in their individual achievements. Supported by Heritage Manor, our carers can add to their skill base and follow their interests within the profession. Nisha is almost there in her journey to get a nurses pin. Steph has trained in team leadership and Karen in mental health. All great qualities that our residents and home will benefit from.
Well done to Keith too for building the BBQ for some alfresco summer dining. It’s a huge brick construction and he has done an awesome job.
Congratulations to Becky! She is getting married this summer. When singer Eddie Graham was recently here he played a guitar that once belonged to Hank Marvin. He sang a special rendition of “I’m getting married” to Becky and everyone joined in!
Residents achievements
One of our residents, Yvonne, was renowned for her chutneys and jams. She shared her runner bean chutney recipe with us. We rolled our sleeves up and made some under her guidance and with the help of daughter Veronica. A wonderful team effort and lots of jars to sell at our Summer Party.
We have also had another successful year making West Eaton’s Elderflower Cordial. And some delicious baking sessions; the cherry tarts were especially good for afternoon tea.
We have also tried some new hobbies like calligraphy and carpet boulles.
We have been taking part in the Dance for Health Program for a few months now via Zoom. Yesterday Yuvel, the dance instructor, came from Newcastle to meet the residents and give us a class in person.
Simon the Storyteller came to visit and it got everyone talking about the importance of passing down stories.
We are taking some residents out on day trips to farms and gardens. The Hop Pocket was a lovely destination recently for a spot of retail therapy.
Our main focus for July is Our Summer Party. This is on 29th July for residents’ families and friends. We are having a raffle, which is supported by local businesses and suppliers with some great prizes!
