We joined the nation celebrating the Coronation of King Charles and had a visit from The King of Rock!
The King and Crown
We took part in the The Leominster Priory’s “The Town and Our Crown” Festival. It explored the surprising relationship between The Crown and Leominster over the last 1,400 years, through artefacts, displays, flowers and models. Our residents handcrafted a 3D model showing Prince Owain Glyndwr burning Leominster! We set it up in The Priory and were delighted how our teamwork came together. Residents were invited to the exhibition and for tea and cake.
A lot of prep went into our Coronation weekend celebrations. Residents love to get involved and baked red velvet cupcakes and made decorations. We had a wonderful weekend enjoying the pomp and pageantry. Plus, Royal themed games and a traditional afternoon cream tea.
The King of Rock
It was a fantastic afternoon when the King of Rock, Elvis (aka Carl Fisher) visited. He was so interactive with our residents, charming our ladies! Everyone was dancing and singing along. It was so uplifting. Check out the videos on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/westeatonhome/videos/637137387794740
From Kings to Queens …
A few residents enjoyed a trip to Queenswood Arbouretum with some of our staff. An extra small guest made it even more fun, keeping them entertained and on their toes!
There was lots of inspiration for our garden, which we are enjoying in all the sunny weather. Summer at last! We have now planted out our veggies and sweet peas. And lovely to have treats from the kitchen for our hard work. Their milkshakes are amazing – chocolate and strawberry flavours!
Celebrating our team
We couldn’t let International Nurses Day pass without saying a BIG thank you to all our nurses at West Eaton. They really do go above and beyond everyday. We are also very proud to have some staff who are in the last stages of studying to become nurses.
We also marked Carers Week with treats each day to say thank you to our team. Monday was lip balm and lollies, Tuesday was fruit kebabs and chocolate, Wednesday was pens and cakes …..
Plans for the summer
Every three months we have a residents and staff meeting. This is to discuss and share ideas, events we are planning and things we would like to do. It is certainly never dull! It also gives residents an opportunity to ask questions and give any feedback.
This summer we are excited about our Family and Friends Summer Picnic on July 29th. We are fundraising for a digital table. Save the date!
