Each morning at Astley, we have a team meeting and discuss our Resident of the Day. Everyone in the team, from carers to maintenance, contributes to each person’s wellbeing. Each day there is a focus on a different resident. What can we do to make a difference to them? It is a wonderful time to get to know residents better, and add to their See Me Story by making memories. You can read more about our Resident of the Day focus here. https://www.heritagemanor.co.uk/help-advice/see-me-story-resident-of-the-day/
Recently Derek was Resident of the Day
Derek has always lived locally and worked on a farm and then as a gardener. His favourite hobby is now floristry and he shares his talent and expertise with other residents. Derek was in his church choir for 25 years so for his Resident of the Day we took him on a trip to his family church. He had the opportunity to hold the cross he was bearer of in his youth. He shared shared stories of his choir days and paid his respects at the graves of his loved ones. We went on to Rowberry’s Nursery Farm Shop for lunch and brought home cake for all our residents for tea. Such a lovely day out.
In other news ….
We had a fantastic time celebrating the King’s Coronation. We watched all the pomp and pageantry on the TV, enjoyed a fabulous traditional afternoon tea with friends and family and raised a glass (or two!) to our new King and Queen. Thank you to our cheffing team and care staff for pulling out all the stops. Our home was festooned with bunting and flags and we had vocalist Janette singing for us.
With the weather now finally warming up, we can be out more in the garden feeling the warmth on our faces and soaking up some Vitamin D. It’s been a long time coming! The bench in our sensory area is a lovely spot to relax and take in the stunning view over the fields to the church and the Malvern Hills beyond. We are dusting off the garden furniture and sweeping out the summerhouse. Residents always enjoy garden games on the lawn, or a spot of gardening, coffee and the papers on the terrace and alfresco dining. In June, we have The Big Lunch, Picnic Week and National Cream Tea Day. Plus, our Debutots visits and Father’s Day celebrations.
