Hello and Welcome to our new Lifestyle and Wellbeing Team
Laura Dourish is our L&W Lead and Georgia Preece is our L&W Assistant. They are both members of NAPA and also play the ukelele. They are bursting with new ideas and enthusiasm and have been spending time getting to know our residents.
Laura: “I’m very excited to be joining the team at Summerdyne Nursing home. I’m looking forward to getting to know all the residents and staff here and I am hoping to bring lots of creative and exciting energy to my new role. I am very passionate about my work and pride myself on my person-centred approach. My studies were in Health and Social Care at the University of Worcester and The University of West England. I love the outdoors and animals and I currently have two fur babies; a Maltese poodle named Reggie and a chihuahua called Bella who keep me very busy. In my spare time I love swimming and hiking with my dogs and friends.”
Georgia: “I’m looking forward to supporting all our residents with their activities of daily living. I have worked in domiciliary care for 3 years and I have a passion for supporting individuals to maintain and develop new hobbies, interests and skills. I enjoy listening to and playing music. As a graded classical guitarist I can also play the ukulele, drums and some piano. I also enjoy gardening, yoga, baking and socialising with friends and family.”
Hello and welcome to our new KING!
What a day we had celebrating the King’s Coronation. We had entertainment from the talented Lady and The Sax and Sam Pagett at our big street style party. There was a wonderful afternoon tea for family and friends. Thank you to all our staff who made it a truly wonderful day for our residents. Also to Di, Morrisons Community Champion from Kidderminster store who donated cakes and snacks for the party. Plus our chefs for the wonderful King’s Coronation Quiche and scones.
Birthday celebrations
Our chefs really do pull out the stops with their birthday cakes for residents. They always make them personal in design and flavour and recently, we have had a lot of birthdays to celebrate! For Brian’s 81st he asked for a traditional fruit cake. Sheila turned 90 and celebrated with a tea party for her family and friends and an iced sponge cake with bunting and flowers. We have also celebrated David and Rita’s birthdays with spectacular show-stopper cakes! But the one which won the Star Baker Award was the train cake for David’s 79th birthday. This was complete with a 3D engine with carriages!
For David’s birthday he received a golden ticket for the Severn Valley Railway and had a very special day out. He used to work for Severn Valley as the Station Master at Eardington Halt Railway Station. It was a wonderful time for him to reminisce and share stories with fellow railway enthusiasts.
