We have a little spring in our step here at The Lawns as we have just reached a WHOPPING 2,000 Facebook followers! It is wonderful that our home is touching the hearts of so many people. With all the doom and gloom on the news, we are delighted to be sharing the happy lives of our residents. Our fantastic lifestyle lead Joy regularly posts. Her last post was about a resident sharing her photographs and memories of her travels around France and the UK on a BSA motorbike with a bike enthusiast from a younger generation.

Spring news means Easter!

We made Easter bonnets with a Coronation theme this year – Easter crowns! We had a traditional Easter parade on Good Friday and an afternoon tea. Our baking sessions were Easter themed and the word of the week was Chocolate. What’s not to love! Everyone was invited to the C of E Church Communion service on Maundy Thursday and the Easter bunny made an appearance over the Easter weekend. Thank you to the students from Hanley Castle School who popped in to visit our residents and deliver handmade Easter cards. They happily chatted to all our residents taking care to make each of them feel special. The students were so smart and polite – a real credit to their school and families.

Hobby groups

Our Artists set up in our lovely light conservatory to create their own depiction of a Japanese spring blossom scene. There was such concentration, resulting in lots of cold cups of tea and furrowed brows, but well worth the challenge. Residents were rightly proud of their superb achievements. Check out the fabulous photos on our Facebook page.

Our Gentleman’s Club is proving very popular on the last Monday of each month. Again, a change of scene from the norm, in one of our new social areas and more of a focus on news, politics, world events, and of course sport, but really wherever the conversation flow goes! Coffee and biscuits have been the preferred refreshment to date, though bar snacks and beers are on offer.

Meanwhile, more one for the ladies was a pamper day with hand and foot massages and facials. The bubbly foot spa treatments were such a giggle for some of our residents! And manicures give a lovely opportunity for one-to-one time.

There has been lots of fun and laughter with our sessions with Magic Moments Nursery and celebrations of Red Nose Day and St Patrick’s Day. Our “Match the Bonny Baby to the Staff Member” competition was great. Just lovely for residents to see these pictures of the team and to share their lives and memories. All part of The Lawns family rich tapestry of life.

Next it is The King’s Coronation

We are, as always, doing things in style busy creating memories for our residents. Following the success of our Jubilee Carriage and Santa’s Sleigh – we are making a Coronation Gold Coach. If you see our residents out and about in Kempsey in their gold coach, do beep your car horn or give them a wave!
