What a wonderful time this June, starting with The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the long bank holiday weekend.

Our home was festooned with bunting, flags and red, white and blue balloons. A huge thank you to our decorating team Libby, Julie and Anju. They got so carried away, everything and everyone was decorated, much to the amusement of our residents and team!

We were delighted that the sun shone for our garden party on the Saturday. Our chefs made a delicious spread for afternoon tea with scones, cream and jam, cucumber sandwiches and a variety of cakes. It was wonderful for residents to be able to spend the day in the garden with their loved ones, celebrating together. Thank you to our team for going above and beyond to make the weekend super special.

The Trooping of the Colour and the Jubilee Pageant were also great to watch and some fascinating memories were shared by residents of the Coronation. Suffice to say, we are all still feeling the warmth and buzz of the weekend!

So what next for June

We are pottering in the garden when the sun comes out and enjoying our hobbies.

The Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day was on 13th June. An opportunity to bake and raise awareness of this cause which we hold close to our hearts.

We celebrated all our Dads on the 19th June – which rather conveniently tied in with Beer Day Britain.

We had a brilliant visit from the actors of Tickled Pink Productions. They staged their blazingly funny “Swinging Sixties Show” in our residents lounge. Smash hit songs had everyone toe tapping and some of us were jiving. Elvis was a big hit!

Then there’s Wimbledon fortnight, with the tennis, strawberries and Pimms – though not always in that order!
