With the COVID restrictions lifting, we are able to welcome people back to Astley Hall. Our next big event is our Royal Garden Party on 4th June. We are festooning our garden with bunting and using all our vintage china and silver teapots for a traditional afternoon tea. Our resident bakers will be making scones and Victoria sponge cakes. There will be lots of Royal themed activities, traditional garden games and everyone wearing their red, white and blue. We are looking forward to welcoming family and friends. Celebrating much like the rest of the Nation! We all have our fingers crossed for sunshine!
A HUGE welcome back to the children and team from Debutots
There is something so special about intergenerational therapy. In our adult life, we are always doing – working and rushing about. There never seems enough hours in the day. The young and old share a different rhythm, which focuses not only on doing, but being in the moment.
Our residents have their time to offer, without any distractions and were enthralled with the kiddies from Debutots. They had their undivided attention. Everyone loved popping bubbles, playing with balloons and sharing stories. A special moment, which brought back memories, was singing about Wiggly Woo – the worm at the bottom of the garden! The sound of children giggling brought such joy. Their exuberance and energy is always felt long after they have gone home. We are looking forward to their next visit.
Music Therapy
We have started, every other Wednesday, a music therapy session with the incredible entertainer Ray Mytton. He is a firm favourite here. The sessions are so upbeat, with Ray singing and playing guitar. Non-stop fantastic hit songs, with lots of percussion instruments for residents to join in. Just brilliant!
Animal therapy
It was fantastic to welcome Beasts, Bugs and Bunnies! Cuddles and snuggles from guinea pigs and rabbits and intrepid encounters with Monty the Snake! Wonderful to have so many animals at our home and introduce some new experiences to our residents.
