As COVID restrictions are lifting our residents are loving getting our and about again. So we have unanimously decided to aim BIG and fundraise for a minibus!!
Minibus fundraising
We kicked off our fundraising with our Easter raffle raising £200. Easter was made all the more memorable with our Easter duckling project. Residents loved the experience of hatching eggs and hand-rearing 5 fluffy balls of cuteness! They have now been rehomed with our friends at Severn Valley Alpacas. They are growing up fast and enjoying the outdoors.
Our gardening clubbers have been hard at work bringing on vegetable and flower seedlings and our Potting Shed is now open; every weekday from 10am. ALL Plants are 4 for £1. Proceeds raised will go towards our minibus fund.
Back by popular demand, post COVID is our Summerdye Summer Fayre. Saturday 13th August, from 12 noon. The brilliantly, multi talented, Joe James Thomas will be playing two sets. Another great addition is Andrew Healey. He will be performing a one hour children’s entertainment show followed by balloon modelling amongst the crowd. We cannot wait to see his fire juggling. There will be lots of stalls, games and Scott’s Whippy Ice cream van! All proceeds raised will go towards our minibus fund.
Other events and activities
We marked International Nurses Day to celebrate our fantastic team.
As part of Dementia Awareness Week 2022 our talented bunch of residents and staff created a wonderful forget me not masterpiece. We Baked For Dementia on 29th April, hosting a coffee morning and bake sale with all proceeds raised donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.
We have teamed up with St Anne’s Primary School for an exciting new intergenerational Pen-Pal project. Students have been introducing themselves to their new Pen-Pals ask questions about things that interest them and about their hobbies and interests too. Students also drew little drawings to show their interests. We were excited to hear about their upcoming school trip to the National Space Centre in Leicester and we can’t wait to learn more. Residents and staff have already been working together to reply.
Our Jubilee preparations have begun! We have teamed up with Creative MoJo Limited based in Worcester for arts and crafts sessions. Most recently residents created a collage of the Queen. There was plenty of cutting, sticking, painting, laughing, singing and drinking tea. Residents and staff listened to their favourite songs as the session progressed and there was plenty of reminiscing too.
We are having a garden party on the 3rd June for the Queen’s Jubilee from 11:00 – 13:00 with live music from Sammy Jay Dawson from 11:30 -12:30. There will be a bouncy castle, BBQ, garden games and lots of activities.
