When you think flower power, its often the swinging 60’s that come to mind! But at Astley it has been that springtime favourite the daffodil.
Random Acts of Kindness Day
A little act of kindness by Betty, spreading smiles across the home. One morning she picked some daffodils from our garden and gave one to each of our residents. Making her way round our home bestowing these mighty bright beauties and having a natter with each residents.
The daffodils and warmer sunny days are tempting residents into the garden. Our morning walkers often start with a cuppa in the garden before a leg stretching group outing.
Congratulations to Maddi, our Lifestyle and Wellbeing lead who won the Random Act of Kindness Day competition, with Trusted Care. For always bringing the smiles to our residents and going the extra mile in her role. She won a lovely hamper!
The daffodil also featured in our St David’s Day celebration. Hilarious daffodil fancy dress and some indoors rugby. Our gents still know how to spin pass a rugby ball and are of course enjoying the 6 Nations Rugby. We also had a perfectly made Lamb Cawl (welsh lamb soup) with rarebit, Leek and Potato pie finished off with a stunning Pwdin Eva. Thank you chef!
There were also home made welsh cakes made by our very own little welsh Lifestyle and Well-being team. One of our gentlemen, Tony, who heralds from Swansea, read some Welsh poetry which even brought a tear to some eyes! We sang the Welsh National Anthem and enjoyed an INCREDIBLE performance from the very talented Ray Mytton – who even blessed us with a Tom Jones rendition. What a fabulous day we had!
From Flower Power to Girl Power
We celebrated International Women’s day the best way with music inspired by some of the most influential people we know! Our residents enjoyed some live music by the wonderfully talented Phoebe Appleby.
