At Heritage Manor we like to celebrate successes and Summerdyne’s activities team are our Facebook champions! This followed a review of Facebook activity in 2019 across the homes in our Heritage Manor group.
What makes Summerdyne our Facebook Champions?
Throughout 2019, Summerdyne had the most regular posting, the most engagement with the community and the highest increase in followers. You can follow us here https://www.facebook.com/summerdynenursinghome/
Keeping in touch
We have Facebook pages for each of our Heritage Manor homes. It is a way for the activities team to keep families more in touch with their loved ones. Our activities co-ordinators post about all the activities going on, with photos of residents. Families know that there are interesting, stimulating and fun activities and can see the smiles and happiness on residents faces. It is a comfort and support for families to know that when they are not visiting, their loved ones are well cared for and happy.
It also gives a talking point for visits. Sometimes residents can forget what they have been up to and families can jog their memories by referring to things they have seen on the Facebook pages. At the moment we are making bird feeders and surveying the birds in our garden as part of the RSPB Big Garden Watch.
Some of the comments for Summerdyne’s page include:
As someone who, with my wife, benefited from the wonderful care she was given during the last years of her life, I am a daily visitor to your Facebook page, your efforts are outstanding. Thank you all for the love you put into your very demanding jobs.
Andy, husband of resident
You have the most brilliant ideas. Brilliant all of you.

Help and support
Most recently, Summerdyne asked for donations of nail polish, for our lady residents who love having manicures. The response has been fabulous.
We have also asked for people to join our Having a Yarn knitting group who are hoping to knit 100 woollen chicks for Easter. These will be sold at our local primary schools with chocolate eggs inside, as a fundraiser for our residents fund.
We can also advertise events, such as our Christmas and Summer Fayres or entertainers coming into the home. Facebook enables us to rally support for these event.
It is also a platform to say thank you. Lots of local businesses donate raffle prizes to our home. We can say thank you to organisations we support, such as the Stourport Dementia Cafe. Everyone loves to feel appreciated and Facebook is a great place to shout out about our team, who are all champions for the dedication they give our home.
Sarah and Emma, the dynamic duo!
We can’t talk about Facebook champions without mentioning Sarah Beard. Not only busy with the residents as one of our activities team, she has been busy posting all their news on Facebook. She has been instrumental in growing Summerdyne’s following to what it is today – an increase of 66% over 2019. Congratulations Sarah!
We have also recently welcomed Emma onto our activities team. Emma has been with us for a little while now and is well known to the residents. She is looking forward to sharing her ideas with us and we can’t wait to have her on the team.
