At West Eaton, we fundraise for charities our residents wish to support and on 19th October we hosted In The Pink Day, for breast cancer research.
Wear It Pink – breast cancer research
Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink day is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK. Taking place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, thousands of amazing people wear it pink in their communities, schools or work places for the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now. https://www.wearitpink.org/
Since their first event in 2002, over £33 million has been raised on Wear It Pink day, for vital research. Research that’s working to discover how to prevent breast cancer, how to detect it earlier and how to treat it effectively at every stage so we can stop the disease taking lives.
Our fundraising
Our fundraising afternoon began at off at 2:30 with cakes, refreshments a tombola and raffle. We also had live entertainment.
Our home and staff and residents wore pink and invited their families and friends. Even our carved pumpkin, all ready for Halloween, was decorated for the occasion! Who says it needs be all ghouls and goblins!
Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising afternoon. We raised £256.10 to help the fight against breast cancer. We are delighted!
