Autumn is a lovely season at Abberton. From the colourful leaves on the trees, to the crispy frosty mornings – our gardens look stunning. Residents have been watching the many squirrels working overtime, stocking up with food for winter and we have been keeping our bird feeders topped up.
Our activities team have also been working hard, putting on a series of events to entertain our residents. Here are some highlights.
Events this autumn
Halloween hocus pocus
Residents helped decorate cup cakes as cats, spiders webs and pumpkins. There were lots of tricks and treats with both staff and residents dressed up. Some very scary Halloween masks and a lot of laughter with our pumpkin carving afternoon.
Bonfire Night
Residents enjoyed making the Guy stuffing old clothes with newspaper and shared childhood memories of collecting money for fireworks.
We all wrapped up warm outside and there were cheers as we lit the Guy. We had sparklers and hot dogs. Such a lovely evening.
Remembrance Sunday
We remembered fondly those who died in the wars and residents put together a stunning poppy display in our gardens.
Autumn entertainers
A highlight has been a visit from Tickled Pink Productions. They produce shows for schools and care homes across the country. https://www.tickledpinkproductions.co.uk/default.html
We hosted them for their autumn show “Simply Wonderful”. This fabulous one hour show had all your favourite sing-along songs, glitzy costumes and tap routines. There was even a wedding section. It was a wonderfully nostalgic journey of stage and music. Enjoyed equally by residents and staff.
We have lots of Christmas events planned. Give us a call to find out more and join us for some festive cheer and mince pies!
