We have in recent months started our Wheel of Fortune as a way of awarding achievements of members of our team.
We spin the Wheel of Fortune on the first of each month and have a prize for each colour on the wheel. Whoever has been nominated to receive recognition, spins the wheel to win.
Awarding achievements
We have a comments and suggestions box where residents and their families and visitors to Astley can nominate who they want to receive the award.
Our team work so hard, not just caring for our residents, but bringing smiles to faces, uplifting hearts and sprinkling happiness throughout our home. It’s the little touches that make a difference. For example, helping one of our ladies chose an outfit with matching accessories. Or playing a competitive game of quoits. Or simply having a quiet moment holding hands and listening.
The Wheel of Fortune is a way of recognising achievements and is a real boost to staff members. Everyone deserves recognition and it is lovely to be told that you are making a difference to people’s lives.
Who has spin our Wheel of Fortune?
Congratulations to our carer Hayleigh Haycox, our first winner of a £20.00 Marks & Spencer voucher. Hayleigh goes above and beyond in her role and received many positive comments from family and staff.
Our second winner was Corrie, who is one of our carers at Astley. Corrie is a fantastic carer with a sunny disposition. She was delighted to win and receive the recognition.
Next we had a multiple winners as we celebrated some big birthdays! Happy birthday to our lovely RGN Greta, and to our senior carer Rachel sharing her birthday with her daughter Hayleigh who turned 21! A huge happy 50th to our lovely carer Karen! All spinning the wheel of fortune winning themselves well deserved birthday treats.
Our early June draw was awarded to our head housekeeper Elaine Fisher, for her dedication to her role and being a dependable team member.
