We regularly have resident consultations and one recent request was for more animal interaction.
Our regular animal visitors
Dee Dee, our activity co-ordinator Joy’s house rabbit, is often spotted lolloping around the courtyard and has a second home at The Lawns. She loves a cuddle with residents.
Mel, our home manager, has a lovely new puppy called Harry, who is adorable and delighting all our residents. He is at that big paws, slightly wobbly stage – think of the Andrex puppy (but black!).
Our stunning courtyard sensory garden has been made all the better now with the addition of some beautiful goldfish to our raised pond. Thank you to Haydn for sourcing the donation of the goldfish. Its lovely for residents to be able to enjoy this space of calm and feeding the fish is a new favourite for some.
Doggie day at The Lawns
We recently had lots of cuddles with Sadie and Gertie, two wire haired dachshund. A big thank you to Lynda Billinghurst, who brought them in to see us.
Animal antics with alpacas!
Following the residents consultation we introduced our residents to a couple of real characters! There were many exclamations and a lot of disbelief when two fully coated alpacas got out of the lift!
They spent time in the lounge being petted and fed and we learnt all about their history and wool. They then were totally undaunted, walking round our home and visiting residents in their rooms! You can imagine the surprise when an alpaca pokes his head round the door!
Thank you to https://www.simplyalpaca.co.uk/ for such a memorable day.
