It’s Christmas time at Astley Hall
As if we need a reason to dress up and have a party!!
We have a beautiful, enormous Christmas tree in our reception and a hand-carved wooden snowman. A huge thank you to Ken Ling for making it for our home.
This year, two of our gentlemen residents volunteered to be Santa. They got all dressed up to welcome the children of Astley C of E Primary School. Of course, there were staff members dressed as elves, making sure Santa had all the gifts wrapped and ready. As always, it was wonderful to have the chatter and excitement of children at our home. They all wore Santa hats and entertained our residents with their Christmas performance. It was really enchanting.
Christmas events
We have a huge programme of events and activities on our run up to Christmas Day. A theatre production team visited us to put on Aladdin for our residents. Very entertaining with a lot of “Boos” and “He’s Behind You’s!” to get us into the Christmas spirit. The mince pies and mulled wine also helped with that!
It wouldn’t be Christmas without some shopping and we have taken residents on trips to our local garden centre to see the displays, buy gifts and have a spot of lunch. We also had a wonderful visit to the dementia cafe for their Christmas party, with lots of carolling and fun had by all.
Most recently, we had our staff Christmas party. A lovely chance for everyone to let their hair down and celebrate Christmas. There was the obligatory Secret Santa as well!
We are still selling tickets for our Christmas raffle, which are 25p each or £1 a strip and available from reception. All proceeds will go towards our residents’ fund.
Please do give us a call if you would like to know about more Christmas events, or pop in to join us for a cuppa. We always welcome visitors and there is sure to be some festive antics going on!
