With Remembrance Sunday this weekend and poppies being the symbol of remembrance, it is a time to reflect on wartime and loved ones lost.
Poppies and tributes
There have been some lovely poppy tributes crafted across our homes. Residents at Newstead had a crafting afternoon making their own poppies from felt and buttons. It was a time when memories were shared, both happy and sad. Residents remembered the war and the impact it had on them, their families, friends and our country. There is a beautiful display in Newstead’s reception.
Summerdyne also had a craft morning making a poppy wreath and tissue paper poppies. Their Knit and Natter group also made lots of knitted poppies which have been on sale in reception. We are delighted to say that they have raised £26 for the Royal British Legion. Thank you to everyone for contributing to this fantastic cause and also to the ladies of the Knit and Natter group.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest we forget.
