What does FaNs mean?

FaNs means Friends and Neighbours. It is an amazing network set up so that individuals or groups can voluntarily lend a hand, or an ear, to the older generation, mainly (but not wholly) to those in nursing/care homes across the whole of Essex.

Who supports us

We have been supported by FaNs for just over a year now and we have 8 groups from our local community so far! Those included in our network are: Prettygate Infant School, Langenhoe Primary School, Gosbecks Primary School, Stanway 3rd Brownies, Jim Cooper, Emma from Body Shop at home, Muddy Bootz & Muddy Totz and last but not least Polished Nails.

What benefits our residents?

They benefit our residents with their interaction with them, whether it be by providing a service such as free manicures and hand massages, entertainment in the form of quizzes and sing-alongs, or company – either one to one or in groups. The residents particularly enjoy the visits from the youngsters and they take a keen interest in each other’s lives.
