The Zoo with FanS
On Friday 30th September we took a few residents to Colchester Zoo. This was made possible by the FaNs Network, who donated to us 8 tickets.

At Abberton we work closely with FaNs to bring the community into our home as well as us going out to visit our local community. We cannot thank them enough for this opportunity to take our residents to Colchester Zoo.
Our Colchester Zoo highlights
I think residents favourite part of the day was feeding the Giraffe’s! Although, they did request chips and cake for lunch, so that could be in the top 3 favourite things.
We walked through the rainbow birds section, where you are given a pot of bird feed. This ensured you got incredibly close tot he birds, which was a fabulous experience. Leanne, our resident cleaner, is also a gold card zoo member and was the best guide we could ask for.
Thank you to the carers for getting the residents up in time for us to leave. Also, to Sam for organising the trip and to everyone who volunteered to come to help.
