We have The Courtyard Hereford, and their Creative Ageing project on our doorstep, which is fabulous!

The Courtyard set up this program as one of the first in the country in 2010. It is a dedicated team to engage older people with the arts. This is through creative art events at The Courtyard, community projects and sessions delivered at care homes. The aim is to combat isolation within the elderly, increase activity, improve health, well-being and quality of life.
Rita, our activities co-ordinator at West Eaton, has a close link with the Creative Ageing program. She went to their recent conference which focused on creative art activities within care homes.
It gave care staff lots of ideas to go back with.
They also celebrated art projects worked on at West Eaton. In particular, the inter-generational projects between our residents and students from the Hereford College of Arts. There were enormous benefits to residents in taking part; a feeling of belonging and doing something worthwhile. Quilts and photos were created and exhibited at The Courtyard and the NEC, Birmingham.
