Hasn’t the weather been horrendous! A huge thank you to our staffing team for going the extra mile (literally in some cases) to avoid the floodwater and stepping up to cover shifts when colleagues have been cut off. A real team effort. We are all looking forward to Spring and some sunnier weather. The daffodils are popping up in our garden, tempting us outside again. There have been some much-admired colourful skies, as we look out over the church and the Malvern Hills, heralding warmer days ahead, we hope!
Having fun, whatever the weather
Our residents are having a relaxing start to 2023, resuming many hobbies and indoor activities. We have also enjoyed some birthday celebrations.
We have started our Spring term sessions with the Debutots Toddler Group, who are visiting again in March. Nothing like the chatter of children to brighten our days. There is World Book Day in March too; a lovely time for residents to reminisce about their favourite children’s stories. We do all love Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes!
Thank you to our team leader Irina and new carer Sapphire for coming in on their weekends to give our residents a pamper session. They brought restful music and refreshments, and treated residents to hair washes and styling in our dedicated salon and hand massages and manicures. The perfect chance for some one-to-one time. Conversations at these times often go off on a tangent and we do always have such a giggle!
We are planning for Mothering Sunday, to celebrate all motherhood.
Nutrition and Hydration Week also starts on 11th March. A good time to look at the importance of hydration and how to recognise the signs of dehydration – and for some fun creating our own mocktails and fruit kebabs!
Then Easter is upon us, with all the traditional celebrations and lots of chocolate, of course.
Keeping fit with Dance to Health
We have started a new bespoke fitness programme with Dance to Health. Kim and Mo have put together a musical themed session and we are learning a routine based on tracks from “Oliver”. The huge parachute is a favourite prop! We have also resumed our music therapy sessions with Ray Mytton and have live music booked in with Kim.
