Crafting and dancing – two of our favourite activities! And we have added a new spin to these this year.
New crafting and clubs
Glue guns at the ready! We made beautiful 3D flower cards. We have also made wooden models and residents were rightly very proud of the results.
For our Chinese New Year celebration residents crafted lanterns and (as it is the year of the dragon) a 3D dragon head and costume.
Come along to the Summerdyne Havin’ a Yarn Club! Whether you’re an avid knitter or just love a good chat, come and join us every Friday from 2-3PM. We will have plenty of wool and refreshments.
Do you have any spare books lying around taking up too much space? Why not join the Summerdyne Book Exchange. You can swap out your old books for something new and exciting! Many of our residents love to read and are always looking for something new to get stuck into!
Dancing away the winter blues
It may be rain, rain rain outside, but we are keeping active inside. Thursdays are for fitness at Summerdyne. We have regular exercise sessions with Tamar from Fitnniss – Wellbeing in Care. Plus, we have started a bespoke dance programme with Dance to Health.
We have also had a visit from the fabulous JDR. Residents were dancing away. We love live music and it never fails to put a smile on everyone’s faces.
In other news….
Nothing beats a pint down the local ! We had a lovely afternoon drink at The Royal Forester Country Inn. It’s always nice to get out and about into the community and our residents always love it.
The 2024 men’s Six Nations has kicked off and some of our residents have been choosing who they’re rooting for.
Did you know we have a Summerdyne memorial plaque where we remember those who we had the pleasure of knowing and caring for. Each person leaves us with happy memories, which we keep close to our hearts: “Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there has been a trail of memories.”
