What a weekend of sport and here at Summerdyne we have gone all out showing our support! We have also been giving thanks to frontline keyworkers and carers during Glad to Care week.
We are delighted to have welcomed Michael Butler as our new Lifestyle and Well-being lead to Summerdyne. Michael lives in Bewdley, has two gorgeous daughters and brings a wealth of experience from his previous role. Together with Susan Lawton-Smith, also new to Summerdyne’s well-being team, they are bringing lots of new ideas and have infectious enthusiasm. Both the perfect fit for Summerdyne. They have enjoyed their first few weeks getting to know each resident, what makes them tick and what brings a smile to their faces.
Getting behind our sporting heroes
The Euros have been tremendous and what a fantastic England team to cheer on. Along with the whole nation, our residents have been swept along with football fever. We festooned our home in flags and bunting, sung football anthems and worn our red, white and blue. Michael dressed as St George much to the amusement of residents. He put together a brilliant video of our celebrations. https://www.facebook.com/summerdynenursinghome/videos/180188660753161
The England team may not have brought home the trophy but they are winners in our hearts and minds. What a lift they have given us and an inspiration to us all. We can’t wait for the World Cup now!
The tennis too! Watching the weekend finals with a strawberry and cream tea with jugs of Pimms. So Wimbledon. So Summerdyne!
Next it’s the Tokyo Olympics. They might not have stadiums of supporters but if our Olympians search for Summerdyne on Facebook they will see us cheering you all the way. After all that training we hope they have the success they deserve!
Showing our support with Glad to Care week
Glad to Care week was a National Week of appreciation for frontline care workers. We celebrated the hard work and dedication shown by our team, not only during the COVID pandemic, but every day too. Our residents helped put together a special goodie bag for each of our team.
We took part in a Motivational Monday work out class with Kimberly Wyatt from the Pussy Cat Dolls. So much fun and laughter learning some new dance moves. We had a wonderful floristry session with flowers from Cat and her team at Bewdley Blooms. Foliage all from our garden. Just lovely.
