With the warm weather, the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown and the falling COVID-19 rates, there has been every good reason for some partying!
Partying at Astley
Our residents love a song and dance. We incorporate both into our music and movement fitness sessions. Sing-along Fridays are also hugely popular. We have also had some themed events this March.
St David’s Day
March started with St David’s Day and we filled our home with vases of daffodils. There are so many in the garden to pick. They certainly brightened up our home and with homemade Welsh cakes to enjoy, we shared many happy holiday memories of times in Wales with our families.
Carvival partying!
We threw a Carnival Party to toast the dedication of our staffing team and tenacity of our wonderful residents over this past year. There is a sense of family and togetherness between residents and our team that has been made stronger through the lockdowns, with lots of laughter and joy amongst the frustrations of being away from friends and family.
We had colourful carnival masks, bunting, streamers, tonnes of confetti and a silly string battle. Lots of fun smashing up the Piñata and eating the sweets! We looked at old photos of Carnival Queens and watched videos of the Rio and Venice Carnival. Check out our video of the day https://www.facebook.com/astleyhallheritage/videos/833266647225536
Happy birthday Sheila
Our lovely rock ‘n’ roller Sheila celebrated her birthday and shared her secret of youth “Have a good time and dance!” and words of wisdom “Take life as it comes and give it your best”. She was showered with love, gifts, cards and well wishes from all her family and friends and everyone shared in her special day.
Mother’s Day
Our wonderful lady residents received some gorgeous flowers, cards and gifts from their children. Residents also remembered their mothers and special women in their lives.
Partying like the Irish
We had such a fun St Patrick’s Day. Limericks, shamrocks and some creative St Patrick’s Day hats. Our gentlemen enjoyed their Guinness and the dancers among our residents had an Irish jig with our team.
And so to more memory making….
We have lots planned for April including Easter celebrations and a week of activities dedicated to all things Shakespeare; including a movie night, poetry writing our own sonnets and perhaps some acting! Watch this space!
