We have a jam packed activities programme at Summerdyne, but we do encourage residents to have day trips out. It’s a lovely chance for a change of scene, to do some shopping, see some sights and catch up with friends.
Day trips this June
Marks and Spencer’s retail therapy
It was a rainy 11th June, but we were warm and dry inside Marks and Spencer’s. One of our residents met with her daughter to enjoy some retail therapy and a coffee. Together they chose some clothes, which we took home for her to try on for size. We also enjoyed a few squirts of perfume and a trip around Boots, before catching a taxi back home in time for lunch. A really lovely morning enjoyed by all.
Two trips out in one day!
First stop was to The Royal Foresters Pub for a continental breakfast. A lovely chance for residents to meet up with local friends.
After lunch, we went to the Stourport Dementia Cafe where we enjoyed a sing-a-long, coffee and cake. This is a regular day out for us. We always share a table with our sister home, Astley Hall. It’s always a good laugh and a great opportunity for our activities team to share ideas.
Wribbenhall Knit and Natter
This is another regular day trip for members of our “Having a Yarn” group. Wribbenhall Knit and Natter always welcome us with tea and cake. It’s so relaxing to knit and share projects, whilst chatting amongst friends.
One recent project has been to support the Wyre Forest Rangers. They are yarn bombing a tree outside the Wyre Forest Visitors centre in July. This is part of the commemorative celebrations of 100 years of the Forestry Commission. https://www.forestryengland.uk/wyre-forest
Our Having a Yarn group knitted and decorated 104 squares to contribute towards the Rangers hugging tree. It was a wonderful afternoon when the rangers visited Summerdyne to collect our contribution and say thank you.
THANK YOU to Dial A Ride
They are always on hand for our days out. Their super friendly drivers volunteer their time and are super enthusiastic! Summerdyne really appreciate you.
