The FaNs community network

Wonderful fish collage displays were created by our residents, their families and the local community. The idea came from our Ladder to the Moon box, which we receive monthly. The theme for this month was “Fish”.

In the box were some black and white pictures to colour in, so we photo copied them and asked as many people as possible to get creative. There coloured pictures were put on a display board in our lounge.

But half filled, the board definitely needed some help, so we asked children from our local community to help. The Langenhoe school are part of our FaNs network. Last time they visited they brought in memory boxes and told our residents some lovely stories. This time, they each brought in a lovely piece of colouring matching our Fish theme.

It was great to get everyone involved and see this box idea come to life.

Something we kept secret until the children came was the game that was also in the box!

The game is called “Flippin’ Fish”. The name says it all. You grab a paddle, put the paper fish on the floor, and flap the paddle to make the fish flip. The first person to the end wins! The residents cheered on their favourite colour to win. We all had such a great morning!
