Some time ago we welcomed Lynn Kay from Beat It Percussion to West Eaton. Everyone had so much fun that Lynn now visits us once a month for a drumming activity session with our residents.
Lynn has been leading drumming workshops for 6 years and has a wealth of percussive experience. She has a classical music background and has worked with numerous percussion groups.
Beat It Percussion won The People’s Project National Lottery grant in March 2016. This recognised their commitment to giving people with dementia a musical outlet of communication in the community. It stimulates physical exercise, rhythm and social interaction. Learning a new skill also builds confidence and can help people remember forgotten skills.
We are delighted to have Beat It workshops at West Eaton and huge congratulations to Lynn and her team in being awarded their grant.
