Abberton Manor Care Home love to celebrate the different holidays all year round. Burns Night this year was celebrated with all the traditions.
Our activities team leader, Sam, managed to get her husband and the local army Padre (who also plays the bagpipes) to come and play. They then said the Ode to the Haggis and served it to our residents. Of course, with neaps and tatties!
The residents were taught a little bit of history from the Padre about Burns night. He taught us that the night commemorates the life of the bard (Poet) Robert Burns, who was born on 25th January, 1759. The day also celebrates Burns’ contribution to Scottish culture. His best know work is Auld Lang Syne. He then past round some photos of his work.
