Summertime at Summerdyne! That had a nice ring to it! We have been making the most of the amazing weather, getting out and about and hosting our Summer Fayre
Summertime day trips
A regular favourite trip for residents is into Bewdley Town. They love to visit the Jubilee Gardens and The Garden Kitchen Café before heading to The Riverside for fish and chips. Smiles all round and everyone enjoying themselves.
We had a wonderful day trip to Severn Valley Alpacas thanks to Dial-a-Ride. This is now the home of the five ducks we hatched at Easter and our residents were keen to check on their progress .We enjoyed a picnic lunch and got hands on with the alpacas at feeding time! Nothing like animal therapy to boost wellbeing.
And for residents who could not venture out, Mike and Nikkie arranged a visit to our home from little puppy Dora. She was taken from room to room so all residents could have a cuddle. Just adorable!
Our Summer Fayre
We had the most fantastic day with so many fantastic guests. We have raised a whopping £1,045.60 which will go towards our Mini Bus Fund. Thank you to our fantastic community – we couldn’t have done it without you! BIG shout outs of thanks to:

- Andrew Healey Entertainment for the excellent Magic show and Kids Entertainment.
- Fitnniss – Wellbeing in Care for providing the fantastic Rocky and his African Drumming workshops.
- All of our stall holders who braved the heat to join us.
- Friends who came along with their Morgan Cars.
- The Bewdley Mayor and Mayoress who greeted all of guests and enjoyed the music and food too.
- Cooling us all down with their delicious icecreams Cauley’s Whippy & Castle Hire.
- Morrisons Community Champion KidderminsterMorrisons Kidderminster Community Champion for donating bottles of water to keep us all cool and hydrated.
- Our staff team on shift have worked so hard ensuring our residents could join the fun, Sarah, Judy, Jean, Ana, Myla and Clare, Linda and NeNe, Sharon and Audrey.
- Our volunteers have been brilliant Sam, Nancy, Will, Jess, Dawn, Val, Cathy, Pauline, Irene, Mary, Gali, Ilona, Mavis and Rachael.
- And of course our Manager Paula, Billy our wonderful BBQ chef and Maintenance Lead, your are the best.
- And our Lifestyle and Wellbeing Team Mike and Linda for organising the event.
- Hopley’s Family Camping for allowing us to use their car park facilities too and our car park attendant Adam.
Summertime birthdays
Three of our ladies celebrated birthdays this summer. Josie turned 80, Barbara turned 90 and Betty turned 93 years young. Our chef Linda is a whizz in the kitchen and always creates birthday cakes that are personal for each residents. Wonderful to have family visiting and celebrate together with cake, Prosecco, balloons, flowers, cards and gifts.

We are thrilled to announce that Mike, our Lifestyle and Wellbeing Lead has been shortlisted as a Finalist for the NAPA ‘Special Award’ at this years NAPA Member Awards 2022. Thoroughly deserved!
Trying our new tech
Over the last few weeks we have been trialling an interactive projector system. This helps to engage our residents with various themed games. There is a competitive, social environment and it increases sensory stimulation and aids dexterity. Our residents really did enjoy the demonstration and testing it out for themselves.
