The Essex Care awards
Another fantastic achievement for Libby and her team at Abberton. They started the year being awarded the Gold Standards Framework for outstanding care. They now end the year winning the Best Community Engagement Award at the Essex Care Awards.
This Award is in recognition of the community links which Abberton has promoted and participated in. These include the FaNs Network in Essex and Ladder to The Moon. Click here for more information:
Abberton Manor also partners Langenhoe Primary School and Prettygate Infants School, for both long and short term projects such as craft activities, joint festive celebrations and excursions. These bring the generations together and show that both young and old have so much to give.
A heartwarming connection
One of our residents was the headmaster at a local school. However weary or tired he may be feeling, when he knows the children are coming to visit, he says “Just give me a moment”. He then sits up straight, shoulders back, smile on and welcomes them to teach again. The children clearly adore him too. He has celebrity status at their school and they speak all over each other, in the rush to tell him what has been going on in their school lives.
The Awards ceremony
Libby was presented with the award at their award ceremony in Chelmsford last week. She said “This Award would not have been possible without my team all working together”. She took along representatives from her team including Jonathan Walton the activities leader, Wendy Scriven from the care team and Zowie Mitchell from the nursing team.
Libby also said “It was great to share in the good news stories, that rarely hit the media, of excellent care practices throughout the county and to be recognised as part of that. I am very proud of my team”.
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone at Abberton!
