Something our residents always have time for, is reflect on how thankful they are. Researchers have found that the capacity for feeling and expressing gratitude seems to grow with age. They speculate that older people may be more aware that time is limited, and that can lead to feelings of gratitude. Perhaps older people have more time to look back at their lives, as they are not rushing about so much. We definitely know that our residents are thankful for the love of family and the little things in life that bring happiness.
Feeling thankful on World Gratitude Day
On World Gratitude Day we asked our team and residents what they were grateful for. Family, friends, health and happiness topped our lists. But there were some funny responses too! Our therapy dog Skye was thankful for digestive biscuits!

We hosted a fabulous coffee morning for Macmillan, with some delicious home bakes. Thanks to our catering team – their scones are tremendous! Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us. The raffle included gifts from many local companies and we raised £200!
Thank you to our staffing team for making one Resident of the Day feel so special. Diane used to be a beautician for Dior Beauty. Her passion for make up is still thriving and she loved being pampered and having her makeup done.
Thank you to all our families who support us in lots of different ways. Recently, we had some beautiful flowers gifted to Summerdyne from one of our residents relatives. A massive thank you to Adele Sollom and her Daughter Laura!
