Our lovely residents are very community spirited and love to support both local and national fundraising events. And our teams across our Heritage Manor group certainly know how to put the FUN into their FUNdraising! Here are some of the causes we have been helping.
Red Nose Day Fundraising at The Lawns
Residents and staff took part in a Red Nose Relay to raise funds for Comic Relief. Every resident walked or was pushed in a wheelchair, careful not to drop the red nose! They achieved 100 laps of our corridors and grounds. A fantastic effort.
And being Comic Relief there was a lot of fun and laughter. We had silly costumes, games, red nose treats, water pistols, magic tricks, jokes and a sing-along!
There photos say it all. One brilliant, laughter filled, fundraising, rewarding day. We set up a Just Giving Page on our Facebook page and have so far raised £120.00. https://www.facebook.com/TheLawnsOfficial
Fundraising for Dementia UK at Newstead
Residents at Newstead are taking part in the Dementia UK March Dog Walking Challenge. This charity is very close to our hearts.
Our staff and residents are aiming to walk 100km during March with and without dogs. Mollie (Caroline’s therapy dog who is a favourite at our home) is delighted! Nothing better than a walk with residents in the garden and then a cuddle on the sofa!

Knitting for our community
Some of our residents have knitted all their lives and were taught as young girls by their mothers and grandmothers. They have lots of stories and knitting and nattering with other fellow knitters, is a wonderful time to reminisce. They love to work on projects together.
What better than making bonding blankets for premature babies. Thank you to the lovely person for the anonymous donation of baby wool. Thank you to our Newstead knitters. We have donated them to the Hereford SCBU Special Care Baby Unit

Summerdyne have also been knitting for their community. This started with making love bugs for Valentine’s Day which they put in Bewdley with a message of kindness, for people to find. Through the power of social media they have had requests from schools for love bugs. Most recently we have received a lovely message from Juliette at Ruskin Mill Trust Sunfield School saying that love bugs we gave to them have been great for story telling and imaginary play. Sunfield School is based in Clent. It’s lovely to have this feedback and to see how far our bugs are travelling.
And with Easter approaching the Summerdyne knitters are making Easter bunnies. Summerdyne’s Wellbeing Team hopped off to Rachel Robinson Childcare Group to deliver our first fluffle of knitted bunnies. The children were all enjoying the morning sunshine and having outside fun. Second stop was to Barchester Healthcare, Hollyfields where another fluffle were delivered. Third on the drop off list was to our Sister home, Astley Hall.
