15th June: Our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party
A big thank you to everyone who joined residents and staff at The Lawns for the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. There was a huge raffle, garden games, cream teas, a tombola, crafts, lots of fancy dress and more. Our residents and visiting children especially enjoyed seeing the White Rabbit and Cheshire Cat. It was wonderful to see every generation enjoying the afternoon together.
A huge amount of effort went into the event, with residents crafting decorations in the preceeding week. There were giant playing cards, paper tissue flowers and flamingos and huge painted Cheshire cats. Residents also baked cakes for the day. We have some very keen bakers who really enjoy cooking in their kitchen, which is to the side of our open plan, first floor lounge. The wafts of baking had everyone salivating – it’s a wonder we had anything left to eat on the day!
Joy Hoskins, our activities co-ordinator at The Lawns, orchestrated the event. She said “Despite the weather, the afternoon brought lots of laughter and we raised a fantastic £265. This will be put towards the building of our bar in the first floor lounge. Thank you to everyone who attended for all your support.”
The Worcester News also reported on our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and you can read their article here https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/17725581.mad-hatters-party-at-the-lawns-residential-and-nursing-home/
Our next event is Seaside Day on 20th July.
Please do give us a call on 01905 821388 or check our Facebook page for all the details. We can’t guarantee the weather, but you can have a paddle, make sandcastles, enjoy candyfloss and ice creams and share lots of seaside memories with our residents. See you on the day!
