Fun and laughter at Abberton

Here is a snap shot of some of our summer activities.

Out and about in the Abberton minibus

It is lovely to have our minibus and to be able to say to residents “Where shall we go today?” The garden centre is always a favourite destination, with a stop at the cafe for tea and cake.

We also had a wonderful trip to West Mersea beach. So beautiful to see the pastel beach huts against the blue sky, to hear the waves and smell the salty air. We enjoyed ice creams looking across the water to Bradwell-on-Sea. There really is an old world charm about West Mersea and we shared lots of childhood memories of the seaside.

Music therapy

We have regular music therapy sessions with Gulli from Kiddleydivey and there was a summer vibe to our recent one. A fabulous fiesta with bubbles, tambourines, flower garlands, lots of singing and dancing and fun had by all.

Muddy Boots Forest Adventures

Who says you can’t work with children and animals?! We welcome both at Abberton.

Firstly the children from Muddy Boots Forest Adventures visited. Lovely to see them before the summer holidays and the little tots and our residents played games together in the shade of the gazebos on our front lawn.

Wild Science

The next day we had Isaac from Wild Science to visit with his huge array of animals. Our residents were able to hold all the animals. Some were very cuddly like the mice and baby hedgehogs. Others less so like the iguana, but our residents were brave enough to hold them, none the less. A really entertaining and informative afternoon.

The Dog Fun Day: Saturday 16 June

This was such a fun day and all our residents were outside to watch the Tendring Dog Agility Group put their pooches through their paces. There was a dog show as well with prizes for the dog with the waggest tail, best looking dog, dog with the best trick and the dog that looks most like its owner.
