It has been a magical Christmas 2017. A huge thank you to all our fabulous staff at The Lawns for making it such a wonderful time.
So, now it’s the New Year, lets look back at the highlights! Not in chronological order (and with slight artistic license to the numbering!), but in true panto tradition, we give you:
The Twelve Days of Christmas 2017!!
12 Children Carolling
Actually, over 20! Thank you to the children of Blessed Edward School Choir for visiting our residents and filling our lounge with song. Hearing the children sing was so lovely and it evoked strong emotions in our residents. The children even bought cakes and treats for an afternoon tea. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed their visit. We were also treated to a beautiful carol concert from the Kempsey Church Choir, led by Philippa Sargent.
11 Happy Shoppers
Thank you to John and Wendy for bringing their pop up shop to our home, so our residents could Christmas shop for all their friends and family. Vera was particularly delighted with her new handbag!
10 Dove Tree Memories
And many, many more doves have been added to our dove memory tree over the festive period. This has been a great way of remembering loved ones and sharing memories. Thank you too to Rebecca and Margaret Tibbutt, who came in to spread some Christmas cheer and sing carols in memory of their late father Arthur Beardshall. He was a wonderful gentleman who used to live with us at The Lawns and of whom we have very fond memories. Rebecca and Margaret sing for us every year and we are very touched by their continued support of our home.
9 Festive Helpers
It’s way more than 9. We have a fantastic team of staff, who work extremely hard and are super dedicated and devoted to our residents. This 12 Days of Christmas would therefore not be complete, without a big thank you to them, for making The Lawns the warm, friendly, happy home we know and love.
8 He’s Behind You’s
Oh no he isn’t! Oh yes he is! It wouldn’t be Christmas without panto. Thank you to Partytime Productions for entertaining us with “Let it Snow”.
7 Tumbling Penguins
That was the number of sugar paste penguins we counted on our fabulous Christmas cake, made by our wonderful chef Anita. Together with her catering team, they also made countless numbers of mince pies and Christmas dinners. Anita was up at 5am Christmas morning to get our turkey in the oven. Thank you for all your hard work. The Christmas menu was delicious.
6 Party Manicures
Many of our ladies got glammed up for Christmas, on our pamper day, with beautiful manicures and massages. Ruth, who is approaching 103 years old loves having her nails done, and went for a festive red colour. Everyone had their hair styled and the gentlemen included had a spruce up, in time for Christmas day.
5 Hundred Pounds
Nearly …. we raised a fantastic £467.83 at our Christmas Bazaar which was a team effort of staff and residents, coordinated by Dee. It was hugely supported by friends and families and the money raised is for the residents fund. Thank you!
4 Christmas Reindeer
Well, not quite a reindeer but one gorgeous Shetland pony called Zeeva, who visited everyone for strokes and carrots. She enchanted all our residents, even those upstairs who couldn’t believe they had a pony in their rooms – she simply took the lift! Thank you to Kim Golding from Encourage Activity. We are all looking forward to welcoming you back with your mini zoo in January.
3 Elderly Brothers
This fabulous trio are a firm favourite of our residents and it was great to welcome them back for their Christmas Concert.
2 Naughty Elves
And a panda…..who are we to question why?! They delighted our residents with Christmas presents from Santa and all their naughty antics!
And some Christmas bloomers worn by our Dee!!!!
Brilliant! We have had so much fun this Christmas 2017! Who knows what 2018 will bring, but at The Lawns it is sure to be many more happy times.
We wish you all a very Happy New Year.
