Reminisce and remembrance
Armistice Day is a very poignant time and we always stop for the two minutes silence to remember and reminisce. Our residents and staff spend a lot of time sharing memories and talking about their lives. That can be childhood memories sparked from activities we do, to chatting about family and friends. Residents have a lot of memories of the war, both happy and sad. It is a time to remember and reflect on what happened, what could have been and the sacrifices made.
This year’s remembrance
This year, we made poppies and arranged fresh flowers with residents. It was a lovely opportunity to hear war time stories, some poignant, some funny. They remembered friends and all those in the armed forced, who gave their lives for our freedom and country.
