About Us

Summerdyne is situated in the picturesque riverside town of Bewdley, enjoying all the amenities of a bustling Worcestershire town.

The home is an original regency house, converted to provide accommodation for 27 residents in both single and double rooms over 2 floors. As a smaller, more personable home, it provides the highest quality of care 24 hours a day in a happy and homely environment.

A long established home, with a stable and experienced staff of nurses and carers, Summerdyne has an reputation in the area for being a happy and relaxed home.  It has also achieved the Gold Standard Framework for palliative care, an industry accreditation for excellent palliative care.

Paula Lees Home Manager

I became the manager at Summerdyne Nursing Home in 2018. I have spent the last 25 years working in the elderly care sector, and have seen many changes. I have always kept myself up to date with new ideas and guidelines.

My ethos of care is that our residents feel like they are in their own homes, and that staff have been invited in to assist them. I believe that it is very important for residents to be able to continue to live their lives with meaningful activities that are person centred to each individual.

My wish is to provide an environment where each resident is able to bring their own, unique personality, to create a family unit and be able to share their experiences and life history with each other and staff alike.

I am passionate about ensuring that each resident feels special and that we care for them as we would our own family. Each working day I see as a privilege to make a difference in their lives and I trust that my attitude is helping our carers to feel the same sense of achievement.

As home Manager I am a visible, positive role model working alongside the caring team, providing both leadership and when required working as a team member to ensure that each and every resident`s needs are met, keeping the open and friendly environment that the home has offered for so many years.

Our Quality Care

We have long-standing and dedicated nursing teams in our homes, with many years of professional experience between them. This has enabled us in a number of our homes to have achieved the highest accreditation for nursing care, the Gold Standard Framework.

  • "My uncle moved to Summerdyne Nursing Home in April 2020 during lockdown. Staff and residents have all been free of Covid-19 and I feel confident that the precautions the home takes keeps everyone safe. My uncle spent a week's respite at the home in July last year and we were both impressed by the homely and caring atmosphere, which is why he chose to move here when he could no longer cope at home. The staff are friendly and supportive; this has made such a difference to me because it has been a very stressful time. My uncle has settled well and feels well cared for. The garden is lovely and is a great place for him to watch the birds, squirrels and butterflies."

  • "Summerdyne is made by the staff. We searched along time for a care home that we thought suited before moving our relative to the home. The manager is brilliant with excellent communications. All the staff are kind and caring. Our relative moved in May 2019, and we have been very impressed with the standard of care and kindness the staff constantly provide."

LB, relative of resident, May 2020
  • "My mum receives excellent care and the staff treat her as one of the family. They recently sent me a 'hug' from my mum as we could not meet due to COVID-19. The home has remained clear of COVID at all times."

MT, son of resident, July 2020
  • "A great set of staff who care for the residents with compassion, and still, they have been brilliant through these difficult last few months."

CT, son of resident, August 2020

Our Activities

Like all Heritage Manor homes, we have dedicated staff who focus on providing a varied programme of events throughout the week, both on a group and one-to-one basis, with varied input from local schools and churches.

We pride ourselves in person-centred care. We aim to carry out activities and events to suit the need of everyone.

Activities available at Summerdyne include: chair-based exercise classes, themed supper evenings, trips into Bewdley, garden centre and local attractions, regular entertainers, including our guitar playing chef, garden parties, sing-a-longs, cake decorating, Wifi access using our ipads.

We always encourage friends and family to take part in our social activities, and are keen to help arrange birthday parties and special events. We celebrate Christmas and Easter, hold an annual Summer fete, have firework displays and hold themed evenings, to which all are invited. We also encourage residents and staff into the garden as much as possible. Lastly, we use the ipads to help our residents stay in touch with family and friends, using email and printing off the photos we are sent.
