One of the first homes to be awarded the Worcestershire Dementia Care standard, this happy home is located in a well converted regency house and provides the highest quality 24 hour care.
Summerdyne is situated in the picturesque riverside town of Bewdley, enjoying all the amenities of a bustling Worcestershire town. We provide residential and nursing dementia care, on a long term, convalescent or short stay basis. Our team are long-serving at Summerdyne, reflecting a happy and caring home.
The home is an original regency house, converted to provide accommodation for 27 residents in both single and double rooms over 2 floors. As a smaller, more personable home, it provides the highest quality of care 24 hours a day in a happy and homely environment. We have large communal areas and our conservatory and garden are firm favourites to relax.
Our experienced staff of nurses and carers, provide person centred to residents and have achieved the Gold Standard Framework for palliative care, an industry accreditation for excellence. We were one of the first homes in Worcestershire to be awarded with the Worcester Dementia Care Standard. Our focus is on helping residents enjoy their lives to the full, in the ways that make them happy.
I became the manager at Summerdyne Nursing Home in 2018. I have spent the last 25 years working in the elderly care sector, and have seen many changes. I have always kept myself up to date with new ideas and guidelines.
My ethos of care is that our residents feel like they are in their own homes, and that staff have been invited in to assist them. I believe that it is very important for residents to be able to continue to live their lives with meaningful activities that are person centred to each individual.
My wish is to provide an environment where each resident is able to bring their own, unique personality, to create a family unit and be able to share their experiences and life history with each other and staff alike.
I am passionate about ensuring that each resident feels special and that we care for them as we would our own family. Each working day I see as a privilege to make a difference in their lives and I trust that my attitude is helping our carers to feel the same sense of achievement.
As home Manager I am a visible, positive role model working alongside the caring team, providing both leadership and when required working as a team member to ensure that each and every resident`s needs are met, keeping the open and friendly environment that the home has offered for so many years.
We have long-standing and dedicated nursing teams in our homes, with many years of professional experience between them. This has enabled us in a number of our homes to have achieved the highest accreditation for nursing care, the Gold Standard Framework.
"My uncle moved to Summerdyne Nursing Home in April 2020 during lockdown. Staff and residents have all been free of Covid-19 and I feel confident that the precautions the home takes keeps everyone safe. My uncle spent a week's respite at the home in July last year and we were both impressed by the homely and caring atmosphere, which is why he chose to move here when he could no longer cope at home. The staff are friendly and supportive; this has made such a difference to me because it has been a very stressful time. My uncle has settled well and feels well cared for. The garden is lovely and is a great place for him to watch the birds, squirrels and butterflies."JP, niece of resident, August 2020
"From the initial meetings, to Dad’s arrival from hospital, we felt confident he would be in good hands. Our first impressions of Summerdyne as a caring, compassionate and well-run setting proved to be right. COVID prevented us from visiting Dad shortly after his arrival, but communication from the home was always excellent and we felt confident he was being well cared for and kept safe. Summerdyne has an excellent reputation locally and we can see why. Thanks to the patience, care and support Dad received, we have recently been able to bring him home - an emotional day for him, us and the staff who turned out to give him a lovely (socially distanced) send-off. We will always be grateful to the manager and her wonderful team who work so hard and give so much to make Summerdyne the safe, warm welcoming place that it is."DM, daughter of resident, September 2020
"Right to the end, the staff were attentive with Mum and paid attention to every detail, ensuring the quality of life and dignity. As Mum passed, a nurse sat with me so I wasn't alone and knew exactly when to intervene and exactly what to say in such a life-changing moment. Two weeks after Mum had passed, I received a life book with pictures of a wide range of activities Mum had experienced during the last two years of her life. As I hadn't always been able to be at these, this is a precious memory and a reminder that quality of residents life and dignity is very important at any stage, and wonderful to know this is valued. This would be the main reason, as a relative, I would recommend Summerdyne to others."RK, daughter of resident, October 2020
"A great set of staff who care for the residents with compassion, and still, they have been brilliant through these difficult last few months."CT, son of resident, August 2020
