One of the first homes to be awarded the Worcestershire Dementia Care standard, this happy home is located in a well converted regency house and provides the highest quality 24 hour care.
At Summerdyne we are delighted to have teamed up with Di from the WEA, who is teaching our residents...
Summerdyne is situated in the picturesque riverside town of Bewdley, enjoying all the amenities of a bustling Worcestershire town.
The home is an original regency house, converted to provide accommodation for 27 residents in both single and double rooms over 2 floors. As a smaller, more personable home, it provides the highest quality of care 24 hours a day in a happy and homely environment.
A long established home, with a stable and experienced staff of nurses and carers, Summerdyne has an reputation in the area for being a happy and relaxed home. It has also achieved the Gold Standard Framework for palliative care, an industry accreditation for excellent palliative care.
I have worked within the private Nursing Home environment most of my professional life. I started at Summerdyne 25 years ago, first as a senior Night Nurse and a few years later progressed to Deputy Manager. I achieved an NVQ Assessors qualification in 1998 and have used this to help some of our carers gain their NVQ level in care.
I completed my Registered Managers Award and became the manager at Summerdyne Nursing Home in 2003.
My ethos of care is that the home should provide care which will enhance each resident’s life with dignity and respect. Also I believe that each resident’s life should continue wherever possible with the same purpose and interest that they have had in the past.
I am passionate about ensuring that each resident feels special and that we care for them as we would our own family. Each day when I go to work I see as a privilege to make a difference in their lives and I trust that my attitude is helping our carers to feel the same sense of achievement.
We have long-standing and dedicated nursing teams in our homes, with many years of professional experience between them. This has enabled us in a number of our homes to have achieved the highest accreditation for nursing care, the Gold Standard Framework.

We pride ourselves in person-centred care. We aim to carry out activities and events to suit the need of everyone.
Activities available at Summerdyne include: chair-based exercise classes, themed supper evenings, trips into Bewdley, garden centre and local attractions, regular entertainers, including our guitar playing chef, garden parties, sing-a-longs, cake decorating, Wifi access using our ipads.
We always encourage friends and family to take part in our social activities, and are keen to help arrange birthday parties and special events. We celebrate Christmas and Easter, hold an annual Summer fete, have firework displays and hold themed evenings, to which all are invited. We also encourage residents and staff into the garden as much as possible. Lastly, we use the ipads to help our residents stay in touch with family and friends, using email and printing off the photos we are sent.
