We support families, easing their loved ones transition to our home and welcoming everyone to our Lawns family. We have an open door policy and encourage families and friends to join for activities, events and mealtimes. We are closely linked with our local community and value their support and interaction with our home.

Our purpose built extension (which opened in August 2018) has 22 rooms, all en-suite, with the ground floor residential rooms having their own gardens. A stunning glass atrium sensory garden links the extension to the refurbished regency manor house. We have a number of social areas for residents to enjoy, a bar and an open plan kitchen dedicated to residents, so they can bake, make tea and coffee, should they wish to. In April 2022 we completed a fully renovation of the manor house part of our home. This includes 6 new residential bedroom suites and a refurbishment of the nursing floor to create a further nursing room. We have new social areas and a glorious conservatory.

Our food is locally sourced, cooked from fresh ingredients, often home-grown and tailored to individuals’ wishes and needs. Our residents have designed and implemented a garden scheme with a wildlife area, patio seating and a veggie plot and greenhouse.

Melanie Dawson Home Manager - 01905 816412

In 2019, I became Home Manager at The Lawns and am proud to be working with such a dedicated team who have worked really hard to make the home one of the best in Worcestershire.  The home specialises in End of Life Care and, has held the Gold Standard Framework Award for End of Life Care since 2013. We have just been awarded the GSF Platinum accreditation for 2019 and were awarded by the GSF 2nd place in their Care Home of the Year.

Running a nursing home can be very hard work at times but it also brings plentiful rewards; being able to look after our residents and their families to the best of our ability is a privilege.

I trained in Worcestershire in 1985 and worked in the NHS until 1998. I then managed a dual registered home in Stratford Upon Avon until 2001 and from there, I went to work for a National Care provider becoming their Registered Manager and Head of Clinical Care. I worked in that position for 17 years before becoming Home Manager at The Lawns.

Being in the nursing for 35 years, I bring  a wealth of experience in all sectors of nursing and have a very hands on approach. I live locally and have a family, including young grand children, and am well aware of the pressures that surround families and carers. My door is always open, so feel free to pop in for a chat or give me a call anytime. My direct dial is 01905 816412.

Our Quality Care

The Lawns provides a range of care across generations; day care, respite care, residential accommodation, nursing care and palliative / end of life care. This continuum of care is tailored to the well-being of each resident and their changing needs over time.

We believe in person-centred care, recognising that needs change over time and look after emotional well-being, as well as physical. This relieves that worry of the future for residents and their families.

Our residents are across generations and we offer support for young adults with complex long-term nursing needs through to more elderly residents. This cross generational living makes us even more of a family - the wisdom of years supporting our younger residents and in return they share their youthful vigour and zest for life.

The Lawns has an excellent reputation for the quality of its nursing and palliative care. The Gold Standards Framework is the highest accreditation in care, awarded to care homes with exceptional nursing and palliative / end of life care, both for residents and in support of their families.

We have held the coveted Gold Standards Framework Award since 2013. In 2019 we achieved Platinum Status for this Award and were nominated for The Gold Standards Framework Carehome of the Year. The Platinum Status Award was reaccredited again in 2022. This is testament to our exceptionally high quality of care and dedication of our team.

Testimonials
  • "My father was looked after very well in the few months he was at the home. He needed a great deal of personal care and was treated with the utmost resect. He seemed happy and joined in with the many activities and also formed a close bond with staff who were all lovely. Thank you. "

RP, daughter of resident, August 2024
  • "Mum has a room on the nursing floor. She has ongoing untreatable problems and has been caringly looked after by nursing staff and assistants. The home has a welcoming feel and the staff ratio is really good. If I had to go in for end-of-life care I would be happy to go the The Lawns. "

MH, daughter of resident, August 2024
  • "The care and attention my father received was outstanding, so professional, nothing was too much trouble, I could not fault them in any way. The entire two years my father was there was just the same very high standard. "

SJ, son of resident, September 2024
  • "After 5 weeks spent in hospital, we were lucky enough to secure a place at The Lawns for my mother-in-law. From her arrival, she was welcomed by all the staff and settled much better than I was expecting. It is such a warm and friendly home where nothing seems too much trouble. She has become more sociable than I've seen her in many years, all thanks to the fantastic staff. I no longer have to worry about her being on her own at home. Home is now The Lawns, and we could not have found anywhere better for her. "

SB, daughter-in-law of resident, September 2024
  • "The Lawns care home is run by a superbly organised, professional and dedicated manager, as well as staff. My cousin has been delighted to live there and made many friends over the last three years. She has enjoyed taking part in varied activities offered on a daily basis. The accommodation and general living areas are superb and spotless. As relatives and friends paying a visit, we are always welcomed and delighted to see us. I can highly recommend it. "

JR, cousin of resident, September 2024
  • "Mum has, within the past few months, had to be moved upstairs to the nursing floor of The Lawns due to the gradual deterioration of her health. It was difficult for me to accept this change, however, the staff on the nursing floor are absolutely amazing. Mum has settled down well despite becoming more and more reliant on the staff for her everyday needs. The standard of care is excellent, and the staff are just beyond amazing for their warmth, care and how much they do for each and every resident. I come away from seeing Mum knowing that she is in excellent hands and being cared for with kindness, and I want to thank each and every member of staff for what they do, every single day. "

WP, daughter of resident, September 2024
  • "This is the care home where you'd want your loved one to live. All the staff are lovely, friendly and professional. They go over and above to look after the residents, seeking their feedback and making little improvements on an individual basis to improve the quality of life. The activities are varied and engaging and the special events make all the difference to the residents - the lifestyle team are amazing. "

HS, daughter of resident, September 2024
  • "Great home, lovely warm feel with great caring staff and nothing is 'too much trouble'. The manager is always available and very helpful and supportive. "

PK, son of resident, September 2024
  • "Professional caring and highly competent. They absolutely know what they are doing and are good at it. Well run and has a very team-driven atmosphere. Always willing to answer questions. Very peaceful environment for those who need that, with a hive of activity for those who want and are able to get involved in the many activities offered. They have been extremely caring of my mother, treating her with kindness, respect, and dignity. I particularly like the computer-based reporting system that can be remotely accessed for updates on the resident. "

DS, daughter of resident, September 2024
  • "After nearly 2 years living in The Lawns my mum sadly passed away 11 days ago. The care and loving she received during her time there was second to none with attention to detail by each and every team. The emotions when your loved one passes are extreme and the process itself tough, The Lawns made this as easy as possible. They treated Mum as a person and dealt with her in a dignified, respectful, caring and kindly manner and looked after my sister and I throughout what was a very difficult day allowing us time to be with Mum and helping wherever they could. The care home manager has kept in regular touch ever since helping us with arrangements, registering Mum's death on our behalf and answering every question we have had. Thank you so much all of you for everything you have done for Mum and for us over the past few years we really felt part of the Lawns family. This is a wonderful place to spend your final years. "

Our Activities

Like all Heritage Manor homes, we have dedicated staff who focus on providing a varied programme of events throughout the week, both on a group and one-to-one basis. We like to help our residents carry on their favourite activities wherever possible, but also to introduce new experiences.  Our activities staff have a varied background, from organising large musical events to beauty therapy, and they find something for everyone.

The role of our activities coordinators extends to well-being and lifestyle: finding out what makes residents happy on a day to day basis, their likes and dislikes, hobbies and interests. Ensuring they feel happy and relaxed and can do all the things they would do at home, at their Lawns home.

We have a full-time activities programme run by our activities organisers. These range from beauty treatments and hairdressing to chair-based exercise classes, live entertainment, pop-up shops, theme days, crafting, themed super evenings and art and gardening clubs.

We always encourage friends and family to take part in our social activities, and are keen to help arrange birthday parties and special events.  We also celebrate Christmas and Easter, hold an annual Summer fete, have firework displays and hold events to which all are invited.  We also encourage residents and staff into the garden as much as possible.
