The Lawns residential and nursing home is in the heart of the beautiful village of Kempsey and is well regarded within the community as being a warm, friendly home, providing the highest quality of care.
The Lawns Residential and Nursing Home is in heart of the village of Kempsey and has an excellent reputation within the local community for it's outstanding care and warm and friendly atmosphere.
The Lawns provides a range of care; respite care, residential accommodation, nursing care and palliative / end of life care.
A stay with us could be short term, to recover from ill health or time in hospital; to recuperate and regain that zest for life.
Alternatively, it could be long term, when our home becomes your home. We can offer a continuum of care, from residential care through to nursing and palliative care, thereby best supporting both residents and their families.
Our purpose built extension (which opened in August 2018) has 20 rooms, all en-suite, with the ground floor rooms having their own gardens. A stunning glass atrium sensory garden links the extension to the refurbished regency manor house.
Our food is locally sourced, cooked from fresh ingredients, often home-grown and tailored to individuals’ wishes and needs.
In 2019, I became Home Manager at The Lawns and am proud to be working with such a dedicated team who have worked really hard to make the home one of the best in Worcestershire. The home specialises in End of Life Care and, has held the Gold Standard Framework Award for End of Life Care since 2013. We have just been awarded the GSF Platinum accreditation for 2019 and were awarded by the GSF 2nd place in their Care Home of the Year.
Running a nursing home can be very hard work at times but it also brings plentiful rewards; being able to look after our residents and their families to the best of our ability is a privilege.
I trained in Worcestershire in 1985 and worked in the NHS until 1998. I then managed a dual registered home in Stratford Upon Avon until 2001 and from there, I went to work for a National Care provider becoming their Registered Manager and Head of Clinical Care. I worked in that position for 17 years before becoming Home Manager at The Lawns.
Being in the nursing for 35 years, I bring a wealth of experience in all sectors of nursing and have a very hands on approach. I live locally and have a family, including young grand children, and am well aware of the pressures that surround families and carers. My door is always open, so feel free to pop in for a chat or give me a call anytime. My direct dial is 01905 816412.
"Very welcoming and friendly staff. Beautiful five stars facilities rooms, dining area and gardens. The staff are attentive and respond to any concerns. They keep us well informed regarding any health or medication issues. A very good range of activities each week including exercise, singing art and craft etc."CS, daughter-in-law of resident, May 2019
"The love, care and compassion shown to our father in his last few weeks was outstanding. This comment applies, without exception, to every member of staff involved in caring for him and making sure he was comfortable at all times. We would all, without hesitation, recommend The Lawns to anyone looking for end of life care for a family member. Visitors are welcome at all times and are made to feel part of The Lawns family. The Lawns management staff and staff deserve every award they win. Thank you."MK, daughter of resident, November 2019
"Following a knee replacement, my mother needed a period of rehabilitation and the consultant, along with several friends recommended The Lawns. The admission process was very easy, so this helped minimise the stress. Staff were very caring, only helping when needed to aid recovery. Nursing staff were diligent, food was excellent."BG, son of resident, November 2019
"This care home is like no other! The decor, the staff, the layout and the atmosphere all contribute to this care home being more like a hotel. It honestly doesn’t feel like a care home at all it’s really refreshing due to the modernisation of the place. The main thing is my granddad likes it there and is well looked after. Would highly recommend."SF, grandson of resident, February 2020
"On leaving hospital we were told no more could be done for my husband - wheelchair-bound and needing 2 carers to move him. The Lawns have now got him walking (with a zimmer frame) moving from bed to wheelchair etc on his own and able to attend to most of his daily needs without help. He has learned to propel his wheelchair himself to move bigger distances. I am now planning for him to come back and live at home."DK, wife of resident, February 2020
CQC are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.
CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage us to make sure we are providing the best care possible.
Like all Heritage Manor homes, we have dedicated staff who focus on providing a varied programme of events throughout the week, both on a group and one-to-one basis.
We like to help our residents carry on their favourite activities wherever possible, but also to introduce new experiences. Our activities staff have a varied background, from organising large musical events to beauty therapy, and they find something for everyone.
We have a full-time activities programme run by our activities organisers. These range from beauty treatments and hairdressing to chair-based exercise classes, live entertainment, pop-up shops, theme days, crafting, themed super evenings and art and gardening clubs.
We always encourage friends and family to take part in our social activities, and are keen to help arrange birthday parties and special events. We also celebrate Christmas and Easter, hold an annual Summer fete, have firework displays and hold events to which all are invited. We also encourage residents and staff into the garden as much as possible.
