The Lawns Nursing Home provides tranquil and relaxing accommodation in beautiful grounds. Situated in the village of Kempsey, it is set in 3 acres of attractively lawned gardens and was originally a regency manor house.
The Lawns enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of its nursing and palliative care. The nursing staff have over 200 years of experience, and with our many long serving care staff, the home has been recognised with the coveted gold standard framework award with merit, of which we are all justifiably proud.
Having worked within the NHS for many years as both a Theatre sister and a Senior Manager, I made the decision to ‘get back to basics’ and applied for a post as an RGN at my local nursing home in Worcestershire.
In due course, I became deputy matron and latterly matron of this 3 star home. I obtained my Registered Manager’s award in 2005, and also became an NVQ assessor and mentor for the nursing students from the local university.
In 2009, I became Home Manager at The Lawns and, in the years since, my staff and I have worked really hard to make the home one of the best in Worcestershire. The home specialises in End of Life Care and, in September 2013, we obtained the Gold Standard Framework Award for End of Life Care – something each one of us is really proud of.
Running a nursing home can be very hard work at times but it also brings plentiful rewards; being able to look after our residents and their families to the best of our ability is a privilege.
Our ethos is to provide the highest quality person-centred care, in a warm and friendly environment.
Our food is locally sourced, cooked from fresh ingredients and tailored to individuals’ wishes and needs.
"We would like to thank you all for the care and attention that was shown while our Mum was with you. It was only for a short and very difficult time for both her and her family, but the service provided by all the staff members was much appreciated. We would have no hesitation in recommending The Lawns."AF and family of resident, March 2017
"To all the wonderful staff who looked after my wonderful sister, your dedication and tender loving care have been marvellous. Just wanted to say a huge thank you for making her life as comfortable as possible. You were all outstanding with your kindness."AM, sister of resident, October 2017
"Thank you for all the care you gave. You have a way of doing things with a kind and caring touch. Nothing seemed too small for you."F & D P, November 2017
"Just once in a lifetime something beautiful comes into your life and steals your heart. I left mine at The Lawns."J, respite care resident, May 2018
"This note is being sent with one thing in mind - to thank you all in the warmest way for everything you have done for D and for being very kind."S & S, family of resident, March 2018
CQC are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.
CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage us to make sure we are providing the best care possible.
Like all Heritage Manor homes, we have dedicated staff who focus on providing a varied programme of events throughout the week, both on a group and one-to-one basis.
We like to help our residents carry on their favourite activities wherever possible, but also to introduce new experiences. Our activities staff have a varied background, from organising large musical events to beauty therapy, and they find something for everyone.
We have a full-time activities programme run by our activities organisers. These range from beauty treatments and hairdressing to chair-based exercise classes, live entertainment, pop-up shops, theme days, crafting, themed super evenings and art and gardening clubs.
We always encourage friends and family to take part in our social activities, and are keen to help arrange birthday parties and special events. We also celebrate Christmas and Easter, hold an annual Summer fete, have firework displays and hold events to which all are invited. We also encourage residents and staff into the garden as much as possible.
We would love to hear from you and discuss any questions you have and to help you make the right decision for you or your loved one.
