Welcoming in Autumn at Summerdyne

We had the absolute pleasure of attending our wonderful carer, Sophie’s wedding. at the end of the summer. We wish Sophie and James all the best in their marriage and we would like to give them an extra special thank you for asking our lovely residents to be a part of their ceremony.

Thank you to St Anne's Church for their monthly visits to Summerdyne. For many of our residents, church has been part of their lives for decades, so continuing these traditions is incredibly important. It brings comfort, connection and a sense of belonging. The familiar hymns, prayers and quiet moments of reflection always bring back memories. Some residents sing along, some simply listen and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere - everyone takes something special from the moment.

Throughout September, we asked our local community, who are keen fruit and veggie growers, to donate any of their excess produce. We then had a pop-up harvest stall every Friday run by our residents to raise money for our Residents Fund. All donations help us provide more activities, entertainment, outings and special treats for our wonderful residents. A special thank you to Margaret who lives locally and has given some fantastic donations to our harvest stall. She often visits the home as part of our monthly church services and is a well loved member of the Summerdyne family.

We are often out and about in our local community. Residents enjoy visiting Hopley Farm and Gift Shop for a mooch and coffee and we often go to Kidderminster market to browse all the stalls. They also love a trip to Colliers Farm Shop and Cafe for their lovely coffee and cake. Their team are always so welcoming and a big thank you to our wonderful staff and volunteers who make these trips happen and allow us to connect with our community.

A massive thank you to everyone who donated and participated in our MacMillan Coffee morning. Thanks to your help we managed to raise an amazing £53.60 for a great cause.

We recently had the absolute pleasure of attending Bewdley Carnival's AGM meeting to hear all about all the lovely things happening in our wonderful community. We were honoured to be selected as one of the local causes to receive a donation and we couldn’t be more proud of our wonderful community here in Bewdley.

This year, we are welcoming any trick or treaters for Halloween! From 4pm-6pm on Saturday the 31st October we are inviting any roaming trick or treaters to swing by for a sweet treat and to show us your spooktacular costumes!!

A song and dance

We have been enjoying lots of musical entertainment this autumn.

We were singing in the rain with the help of the wonderful ‘Viva Las Vegas’ show. There were all the classic show tunes with accompanying costume changes, choreography and entertainment. Great fun!

And back by popular demand, the JDR Trio had everyone singing along.

Other news

It was such a wonderful, unusual and engaging experience for residents when we had a visit from The Animal Lady Becky Blackburn.

The animals created so much curiosity, conversation and plenty of smiles. It was lovely to see everyone getting involved, learning about the different animals and enjoying the opportunity to see them up close.

Residents Edward Alan and Trish thoroughly enjoyed their interactions with the owl. Check out the fantastic videos on our Facebook page.

Our Staff Star of the Month for September was Emily. She is one of our senior carers and works tirelessly to maintain a positive atmosphere in the home and ensure residents are living their best lives. We also gave all our team goodie bags for Professional Care Workers Week to say a massive thank you for all they do!
