We have put up a huge marquee on our lawn for all our summer events. Our first BBQ of the year was over the May bank holiday and our cheffing team enjoyed the alfresco catering as much as the residents. We have added a huge inflatable screen, a projector and bunting to the marquee and are now getting into the spirit of the World Cup, watching matches the following morning due to the time difference. Residents loved seeing England beat Croatia – so much cheering and flag waving as the goals were scored!
Then in the glorious sunshine, and being serenaded by a fabulous singer Darren Harbs, we hosted our Ladies Day for Ascot. Everyone dressed up in their finery, with some gorgeous hats for our ladies. We enjoyed a cream tea, a tipple or two and watched some of the horse racing.

Our next event in the garden is for Global Beatles Day on Thursday 26thJune. This date was deliberately chosen to commemorate the band's historic 1967 performance of "All You Need Is Love". We then have a strawberries and cream and Pimms afternoon for Wimbledon on 2nd July. Over the Wimbledon fortnight we will have many different tennis themed activities and we are also hosting a Commonwealth Games Day.
Last week we were joined by Stay & Play Across the Ages. It was so lovely to watch the children and residents interacting with each other, singing nursery rhymes, playing and chatting. Our residents all said how great it was to see the children and how well behaved they all were. We are looking forward to welcoming them back again.
For Carers Week, we took the opportunity to recognise and thank our amazing care team for the compassion, dedication and support they provide everyday. Our residents shared heartfelt messages about what they are most grateful to their carers for. We are incredibly proud of our team who bring care, warmth, and companionship to our home every day.
We celebrated National Italian Day with a day of armchair travel, trying some delicious Italian snacks, learning some Italian facts and testing our knowledge with a quiz. We finished off with a virtual tour of the beautiful Lake Como. Next stop, we are armchair travelling to the USA for Independence Day on 3rd July.
Other events coming up include a visit from the Droitwich Ukelele Band on 10th July, and Seaside Day with our favourite entertainer Kim on 14th July. Animal Mania are back by popular demand on 21st July with their array of animals – from cuddly chinchillas to creepy crawlies. We are marking Friendship Day on the 30thJuly with a coffee morning all together and our bakers are whipping up treats for World Chocolate Day.
