On World Wildlife Day residents enjoyed learning about animals and we had a visit from a gorgeous cocker spaniel and went for a stroll to visit the neighbouring ponies. Lauren and Tash also visited from the Small Breeds Farm Park, Kington with baby kid Gracie , Freddie the goat, Tilly the Turtle and Bandit and Winnie the Guinea pigs! Lots of photo opportunities which made us all laugh.
We spent a few days prepping for our Mothers Day lunch, decorating our home and planting pots of pansies as beautiful table centres. It was a wonderful lunch with family and friends and a huge thanks to the West Eaton catering team for pulling out the stops as always. Ewan played the piano and the sun shone, albeit briefly. It was a lovely afternoon.

St Patrick's Day was a great craic with Eddie Graham getting us in the spirit of things, singing and dancing and the kitchen creating an Irish inspired menu. All rounded off with a game of Bingo ....and a snooze!
We marked Nutrition and Hydration Week, which is an initiative to promote and educate the value of food and drink in social care. We had Big Breakfast Monday, Snacky Tuesday, Tea Party Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday, Fruity Friday, Smoothie Saturday and Sundae Sunday!
Liv from Creative Minds Herefordshire came in to create a bird painting with the residents. They enjoyed the details and watching the process of it all coming together. And wonderful to see and hear all the garden birds this Spring.

And then it was Easter, with a delicious Easter lunch made by our kitchen staff. Our carer Jemma was the Easter bunny and she handed out chocolate Easter treats to everyone, plus an egg shaped scotch egg made by Kim for a resident who doesn't like chocolate.

We are delighted that Spring has finally sprung and residents have been getting out into our garden. It's all very exciting as work has started on our new sensory garden area. The residents helped plan the area and Adam and his team from Active Garden are back to help. They created our garden path a few years ago and have cleared the space and are putting the flooring down this week - weather permitting. It is a composite resin, similar to that found in children's playgrounds, so it is soft, even and smooth underfoot. It will be accessible to all residents, including those in stroke chairs. We are putting in raised planters for herbs, fruit and vegetables for residents to enjoy. There will be a wooden archway to grow our sweet peas up and a table with chairs and some benches. It will be a fabulous place of tranquillity, for residents and their families to enjoy.
Coming up....
We have lots of singing and music including Corrinne on cello.
The 5th May is African day and we are hoping that Charmaine, Mickey and Jess will give us some African inspired food!
We are celebrating VE Day with some dancing from Cool Moves.
Towards the end of May we will have our annual visit from the school children on route to visiting The Priory.
