Simple pleasures

The weather may be wet and rainy but we have made the most of the brighter spells, wrapped up warm and getting outside for some fresh air and lovely walks to Churchill Gardens. A great time to blow away any January blues and have a good natter.

Walks through Churchill Gardens

We enjoyed the first performance of the year from the Gadzukes Ukulele Players. They got toes tapping and residents up dancing with our team. Also residents requested a good old fashioned game of Balloon tennis, using hands, feet and a few heads to keep the balloon in the air. Proving the simple things can bring great joy and laughter. The Gadzukes are back on 13th February for our Valentines dance.

For other musical entertainment we have regular visits from Musicare and also Alex the Memory man on the first Friday of each month. Di the Harpist has been back by popular demand. Plus, Mansel musical entertainment on 19th February.

Residents are able to chat and have spiritual guidance from Reverend Andy, of St Peter's and St James, Hereford He visits on the first Monday of each month. He gave a beautiful service and Holy Communion for those who wanted it. He also visited residents who asked to see him in their rooms. Residents really value these visits and his time.

We are also busy baking again for Lee's Place. Our baking sessions are every other Tuesday. At our latest session, residents not only made sweets from scratch but the goodie bags they will be put in as Valentines treats. One of our residents is nearly 100 yrs old and never shy's away from rolling her sleeves up and giving back to the community. Residents have been baking for Lee's Place for over a year now. The team are so proud of them all.
