Relaxing into the year

We have been relaxing into the year and enjoying some slower paced, but no less fun projects. Here is a snapshot of how our weeks have looked.

We start the week on a Monday with a coffee morning and quiz, to exercise our brains. In the afternoon we have seated exercise sessions. At the moment residents are enjoying trying Zumba and staff often join in too.

The King’s school students visit every Tuesday just before lunch and this term they are spending time with residents on the nursing floor, who really enjoy chatting with them. We have now started our weekly Patchworking Group on a Tuesday afternoon. Thank you to the residents' families who have donated fabric and cotton, needles and fabric scissors. We have some very accomplished seams mistresses among our residents and everyone is loving working together on a new project.

Kempsey Primary students visit residents on our residential floor every Wednesday after lunch. They often start with a song and then do word searches with residents or read to them from their books. Its a real pleasure for residents to hear the children read.

We often have manicures in our dedicated salon on a Wednesday morning, or their is the option for residents to go on our Walks for Wellbeing with volunteers and staff. One of our lovely volunteers also runs poetry and prose sessions on a Wednesday afternoon.

Back by popular demand, we have sing-alongs with Clive every Friday and bingo every Sunday afternoon.

Through January, we have had reminiscence afternoons with music, starting with the 1940s, then Rock and Roll for the 1950s and then the Swinging 60s.

There have also been lots of crafternoons, including a wind chime craft project and stained glass paper picture making.

Back by popular demand too this year, we have our ladies and gents groups.

Our documentary afternoons are tailored around residents' interests, starting with a look inside Windsor Castle and then Buckingham Palace.
