We spent lots of time in July prepping for our Summer Fete - and then a lot of time in August remembering the day and basking in its success! We raised a whopping £1,172 which all goes towards our Residents Fund so we can bring fun, entertainment and fabulous events into our residents lives. We were also touched to receive donations from families who had recently lost their loved ones.

Thank you to our residents who baked all the goodies for the cake stall.
Thank you to all our residents families and friends of Newstead who supported the event on the day and helped with stalls.
Thanks to our fabulous Lifestyle and Wellbeing team for working tirelessly to put the Fete together. Also special thanks to Mihaela Halastauan, Zoli, Jinju, Blobias and his wife and friends, Sophie Tanner, Vanda Haston, Sarah Still and Jayjay. Plus our brilliant Care team that helped out on the day.
Thanks to our wonderful local Hereford community, who supported us donating raffle prizes. Prizes included tickets to The Courtyard, a free cut and blow dry from our lovely Sally, a unique sculpture donated by John Moss of Moss Art in Ledbury and vouchers and hampers from Golden Valley Meat & Game, Broughtons Pet Store, The White Heron, LWC, articare, Morrisons and Tesco.
We has a fantastic afternoon. Everyone was smiling, the sun shone and we have been glowing ever since!

Calendar 2026
Residents have been celebrating putting the finishing touches to their 2026 Calendars and were so impressed to see the final printed versions. They have worked so hard on these over the year.
These are on sale now in our reception. £10 each with proceeds going towards our Residents Fund.

In other news
We have baked, played bingo and had a walk or two.
Residents took to the dance floor and sang along to Mansel.
The Ukelele group The Gadzukes came to visit us - lots of singing and dancing.
And Wings of Freedom brought in their spectacular birds of prey. We do love the opportunity of being up close to these majestic birds. Their team are so informative and answer all our residents questions.

We have also been out and about. A lovely visit to Hereford Market and round the shops rallying support for our Summer Fete. The businesses were all so generous with their time and raffle donations.
Also a morning out at Hereford Garden Centre. We went inside with a task in hand. We were looking for indoor plants for residents, who unfortunately are not able to access nature as easily as others. Mihaela joined us for her first time out with residents. A great time with a stop for coffee and cake. And our mission accomplished!
We are planning on another trip out soon for Halloween decorations.
