Our Sensory Garden is finished and we have been busy planting up the raised beds with herbs, fruit and vegetables – all things edible! Thank you to Angie from Herefordshire Growing Point for also helping us plant sweet peas and hanging baskets.
We invited residents from Newstead House, our sister home in Hereford, to enjoy the garden with us and to mark World Bee Day with some fun bee themed activities. We also welcomed the children from Orleton and Kimbolton Schools for refreshments and treats in the garden. They stopped by, as they do each year, en route to see The Leominster Priory Vikings exhibition. We took some of our residents along to the exhibition as well, to listen to Hillary play the organ. It was a recital entitled "Gems from Scandinavia on the King."
We plan to be enjoying our garden (and hopefully some sunny weather!) throughout the summer, with lots of events planned including Picnic Day with mocktails on the patio, and National Cream Tea Day marking the start of the Wimbledon Fortnight. There will be strawberries and cream and scones and jam, tennis exercises in our fitness classes and garden games.
We have just celebrated Carers Week with a surprise each day for our team, each gift wrapped by our residents, by way of thanks for all that they do, going above and beyond in making West Eaton such a wonderful, warm and friendly home. We love animals at West Eaton and are so lucky to be surrounded by countryside with birds and horses and even the tame rabbit! Please do send us in your animal photos for our competition!
Our BIG summer event is our Summer Fun Day on Saturday 25th July from 11 -3pm. If you would like to have a stall, please contact Rachel: 01568 610395. Everyone is welcome, so do come along and meet our fabulous team and residents. There will be stalls, bric-a-brac, food, cakes and refreshments, an ice cream van, live music, ponies, crafts, games and more!
