It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Thank you to all friends and family who replied to our “You Said, We Did” survey in October. Surveys are a requirement of our regulator, the Care Quality Commission and we were delighted to receive such positive feedback. Our team “genuinely care,” are “warm and friendly,” “approachable and helpful.” They have “little conversations, encouragements and friendly smiles” for residents.

“The staff are wonderful and Mum actually said to me that she feels like she has another family here.”

“Dad has thrived and has now lived at The Lawns, happy and safe for 2.5 years. He is happy to be and stay therefor years to come he says. Thank you”

Congratulations also to our home manager Melanie Dawson and carer Issy Gamble, who were both finalists at The Great British Care Awards 2025, in the categories Best Care Innovator and Care home Newcomer respectively.

Halloween and Bonfire Night

Two of our ladies, Eva and Betty, made bags of sweets for the trick or treaters we hoped to see on Halloween. And we were in luck as lots of children stopped by to admire our spook-tacularly decorated reception and popped in for treats and to meet residents.

For Bonfire Night, our games afternoon had a twist; residents loved using Nerf guns in our tin can alley shooting game! Things got very competitive and Annette and Don stood back to back with their Nerf guns, looking like The Avengers!

Remembrance

Remembrance is a very poignant time at The Lawns. Over the last few weeks we made 64 poppies - one for each resident. We also made a life-size soldier silhouette and resident Terry helped give him a few coats of black paint. Terry and Graham then helped put up our Remembrance Display. It has been a lovely time for residents to reminisce about the war, whilst working together on a commemorative project.
