It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We have been celebrating Autumn in every possible way. The children from Luston and Irvington Primary schools visited to sing autumn songs and share their favourite poems and stories: The Scarecrow’s Wedding by Julia Donaldson was a new one for our residents, which they especially enjoyed.

World Food Day was a culinary delight at every meal – from French Toast and Welsh cakes for breakfast, to chilli con carne, chicken Boscaiola and raspberry Clafoutis for dinner, all washed down with a glass of Sangria!  We also celebrated Diwali with traditional Indian food. Our team had Mehndi designs drawn on their hands and learnt how to put on a sari. Residents loved making Rangoli patterns with flowers.

For Mental Health Awareness Week, we had a “Tea and Talk” for residents and our team. A lovely chance to take a break - we are always so busy “doing”, it was a lovely reminder to “just be”. One to one times give our team a chance to find out the little things that make residents happy. One resident Bill, used to run a pub, amongst other things, and would grow and pickle onions to sell. So, we set too and made two huge jars of pickled onions with Bill to enjoy this Christmas.

We took residents into Ludlow, courtesy of Tenbury Transport Trust, to select their own pumpkins at the market. Then back home for pumpkin carving and our Autumn Feast, with a three-course dinner and pianist.

Corrine the cellist has visited to play for residents and Eddie Graham did a spook-tacular Halloween themed music session.

Halloween and Diwali at West Eaton

All our festive plans....

Corrine is back in December for a Sunday afternoon with family and friends, mulled wine and mince pies. Maxine is back, by popular request, to sing in December and we also have some new entertainers joining us for festive events.

Christmas at West Eaton is a magical time! There will be plenty of carolling and visits from local schools and the church and as we are all on the good list, there is most likely to be a visit from Father Christmas!

It’s that time of year for panto – oh yes, it is! After the success of last year, our team are busy rehearsing for Jack and The Beanstalk. Sure to have lots of laughs and “boos” and “he’s behind you’s” And then in January, we are taking residents to the immersive light experience at Hereford cathedral.
